I really, really, really wish we'd gone further down the road to that Cuban eatery near the Vic when we got off the train at Waterloo, or the converted fire station by the crossroads, rather than this awful place. Or McDonalds or BK or, well, anywhere. Every single thing on our two main course plates was terrible. Every. Single. Thing. The fish was cold and hard and greasy, the chips were like shards of glass they were so overcooked, the lamb was swimming in so much grease that it nearly made me gag, and the veg were a lump of warm tasteless mush. It also took them three goes to bring us a bottle of wine that wasn't corked. In the end, we refused to pay for the food - as we'd eaten hardly any of it, this was perfectly reasonable, and in fact that waiter just shrugged and said "Fair enough" like it wasn't the first time it had happened.
Also, the toilets were foul.
Do not, ever, go to this disgusting restaurant.

This is the worst restaurant I can remember eating in, in London. I ate two forkfuls of my fish, some sort of processed white fish that I should have changed my mind about after the waiter likened it to chicken. This place makes its money by offering discounts (this DOES NOT make it value for money; it just means you pay a bit less when instead you could have paid a bit more for a quality, delicious dinner anywhere else). If you prefer to eat something edible go anywhere else.

I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The broom propping the main door open and broken tiles on the stairs leading up to the seating area set the scene for the whole meal.
There were four of us for dinner, we loitered at the doorway assuming that a staff member would see us and come over to show us to our seat...they didn't. A waiter actually walked past us, a waitress looked at us then looked away and not until I walked in and went up to her did she acknowledge me. I had booked and so after crossing my name off her list she took us to our table. We waited for 10mins hoping somebody would come and take our drink order....they didn't. The woman on the table next to us had obviously been waiting too long as well and got up to find and bring back the waitress to her table and asked her to take their drink order. We managed to grab her at the same time and give our order. At this time (7pm on a Tuesday) it was not packed out, but drinkers from the bar downstaiirs were coming up to the seating area to order their drinks - this was obviously taking the waiters attention.
The starter wasn't bad (garlic bread so couldn't really go wrong), I ordered lamb for main and was asked how i wanted it cooked - medium i said. It arrived and was black, it was tough as leather and was certainly not medium. I had to complain. There was no apology although i was asked if i wanted something else. But by then we all just wanted to leave. The bill for 4 of us, two courses, 3 soft and 1 alcoholic drink was £100. Luckily i had a TasteCard which got me £45 off. I would have been furious to pay the full cost.
All in all, it was pretty bad - room too dark, wobbly table, miserable and abrupt waitress, bad food, big bill. I would not go back again..

If you're looking for a convenient location next Waterloo Station this is a good spot. Food is freshly made and good quality for the price you pay. Service can be a little slow when they are busy but otherwise a really good restaurant.

Was very dissapointed with this restaurant. Went there on a Thurday night for hubby's birthday with hubby and two teens. Wan'st expecting so many 'after work' city customers but i suppose being in Waterloo coulldn't be helped. Was very annoyed to find that my booking that I did the night before was not in their books. We were then given a table near the doorway ( only table for 4 available ) without even an apology from waitress about the non recorded booking. Amyway put that aside thinking food would make-up for it. It just went downhill from there on. The food was not as good as I expected . I ordered seabass and it came with some sort of salad that looked like it has been kept overnight. I was hoping for some delicious French sauce ( as this restaurant is classified as French/European ) and thre was nothing ...just a grilled seabass and half wilted salad!! I wished I had gone to my local Pizza Express instead _ I would have got better food at half the price ! Never again!
Needless to say didn't leave any tip - they didn't deserve it !

Ate here recently and was very disappointed. Ordered from the Express menu and the food came very quickly, however the steak was tough and inedible and the batter around the fish was disgusting. Ordered desserts after waiting a while to catch the waitress' eye, and had to go and chase them up after waiting about 15 minutes. The crepes were tough and doughy and if the banoffee pie had any banana in it at all I'd be very surprised, just unpleasant tasting cream on top. There was no atmosphere in the room, it was so dark we could hardly read the menu. I won't be going back.

Went to Auberge on Saturday night and sat at a candle lit table, apart from the candles the room was very dark, a bit too dark. The waitress was very polite and the service was good. We ordered fish and chips for the two of us. The meal was served on a cold plate and the fish was tough, half warm and half cold and the batter was disgusting and about a centimetre thick! We struggled to eat it but had to give in half way through and told the waitress. She was very good and told us we wouldn't be charged for it. We then decided we may as well have a sweet and ordered crepes and cheese cake. The cheese cake was ok but the crepe was tough like the fish. I'm not sure what went wrong as I've eaten here before with no problems, maybe it was a temporary chef. I'm gonna vote with my feet and give it a miss for a while!

Average restaurant that doesn't fail you and is conveniently located.
This French / Modern European eaterie clearly has aspirations to be the hub of modern eating in London, but I'm afraid it's not quite hitting it. The service is a bit too rough around the edges and it simply lacks the atmosphere to make it the draw it should be. With an abundance of competitor Modern European restaurants in the same city, this one suffers next to them.
It's not bad, though. But it's probably more of a stop for passing trade than it is for regular diners.
I've been here a few times now and been satisfied every time, but I've never made the effort to travel across town for it.
