Ask (Victoria St)

A group of us went to Ask on 3rd March. The restaurant wasn't busy, and it's now obvious why. We sat at our table, waiting for our order to be taken, for approaching 20 minutes. There were very few staff serving, and those that were did not appear interested in taking people's orders. You'd think in times of 'credit crunch', they would be interested in our good opinion and money, but obviously not. In the end, we gave up, without one of the three staff we passed on our way out querying why we were leaving, or even looking surprised. We went to the Bella Italia a few doors away, and we weren't the only ones The service was much better, and the waiter was interested in taking our order.

If you want a good meal in Victoria, don't go to Ask, there are so many better places to eat, with much better service.

Six of us ate in the Victoria Street Ask last night following a trip to see the matinee performance of "Billy Elliot" at the Victoria Palace. We were also pushed for time as we had a train to catch and the staff rushed our order through as quickly as possible. Would definitely recommend it (and seeing "Billy Elliot!).

Tonight was my 18th wedding annivetasry and I booked tickets to see 'Wicked' at the Appolo theatre. My wife loves Italian food and we have eaten at other Ask resturants before and never had a complaint, however; tonight we arrived at 6:20 pm sate down and ordered at about 6:30. we explained to the waiter we needed our food by 7:00 and we had toleave the resturant by 7:15 at the latest bacause we had theatre tickets. After numerous polite requests it was not 7:00 and we were becoming a little agitated because there was no sirn of our food and other customers around us who where seated ahead of us still did not have there food. We asked the manager where was the food and only then she explained they had a problem with the ovens! we asked her to check on our order but we where leavinf at 7:05 if our food was not there. In the mean time 3 other parties left without there order being served and another after their starters. I left with our 3 children at 7:08 while my wife explained to the manager. We ended uop eating a sand'WHICH'! from sainsbury's. My wife met up with me and said the food arrived as she left at exactly 7:15. There was no way we could have eaten paid and made the show which started at 7:30. my youngest child is mildly autistic and can not be rushed when he eats. This was a poor show and the waiter should have explained the problem to us so we could have made a call earlier. There loss. Oh, yes, WICKED was excellent by the way!

The staff were appalling. Barely spoke english. Directly blamed me when they brought the wrong order out. Brought it back out again and tried to pass it off as something else. Obviously they have no regard what so ever for their customers.

Its the all time fav place for us girlfriends to do our weekly catch up dinners at. The Mushrooms Al Forno, Bruschetta are great starters. In Salad Mains, they do this goats cheese, caramelised onion & honey with ciabatta and rocket salad, that is to die for. Pasta's variety is ample and not overly spicy and my usual is Penne Peasana with pesto and pine nuts. Fav pizza would have to be the Florentina and its always the Honeycombe Cheesecake for us lot. Great value for money as well. The service at the Ask by MarbleArch is pathetic but the Victoria one is fairly decent. The Ask on High Street Ken has a great atmosphere. Highly Recommended!!

I love ASK! I went there when i was 17 and i'm 23 now. So in 2000. It was next to my hotel! They have the best lemon tart. go get it!!!!
