Giraffe (Muswell Hill)

I find it sad that a restaurant that had so many positive reviews has decided to follow the "pizza express route", by halving the portions. My Turkey Enchiladas which previously had been to big to finish now seem like a starter, overall a big disappointment.
It's such a same the atmosphere and staff are still nice but the value for money factor has gone.

Whichever Giraffe I go to, from Spital fields to Muswell Hill, I am NEVER dissapointed, from the friendly waiting staff to the always excellent quality food. Whether on my own, with friends, or families with children, everyone always leaves impressed. I thoroughly recommend Giraffe for a great night, and day(if kids!). The cocktails are great too!

This restaurant often doubles up as an NCP for pushchairs. I’ve never come across so many kids and buggies congregating in one place at one time other than Mothercare. The staff are really helpful and when we were there last, very attentive despite being rushed off their feet. It would be great if they were to change their menus a little more frequently, that said the portions were certainly plentiful. Great place for lunches / brunches.

On the plus side, the quality of the food is always very good, and the staff are very friendly and competent - when food has arrived with mistakes it has always been rectified very quickly and professionally. However, what is disappointing is the limited menu (brunches are nearly all eggs based), and little lunch variety. Also the staff should provide ear plugs to customers to drown out the noisy children - if you want a relaxing Sunday morning with the papers you will not get it here.

My husband and I have recently moved to the area and after spotting the 'brunch menu' decided to give it a try. We went in and were offered a table in the middle of the room surrounded by pushchairs and hyperactive children. As soon as we sat down we were pounced upon by the waitress wanting to take our order so we asked her for a few more minutes. Nothing on the brunch (or indeed whole) menu particularly appealed (8.95 for a Mexican chicken burger!) but we both settled on something and waited... and waited... and waited (all the while being serenaded by the sound of screaming children). It was at the point where one of the waiters shouted across at the manager that someone was complaining that their food hadn't arrived along with the rest of the tables order and she snapped back at him that we decided to walk out. The food may well be fantastic but from going from calm to extremely stressed in 10 minutes from just sitting in a restaurant isn't my idea of a good place!

The friendly, attentive waitresses must be tired of seeing my boyfriend and I in here! We have been 4 times in 2 months and is excellent everytime! The large meze to start is a winner and fish specials (which change regularly) are delicious. You cannot argue with the quality of the food here. It is our first choice if we do not know where to eat!

Giraffe is very child-friendly with enough space to park pushchairs and the staff is friendly too. The best thing about Giraffe is the Toblerone cheesecake with warm chocolate sauce. I bought a whole cake the other day. I love it.
