What you care about a restaurant is the taste of the food. Mestizo is authentic mexican food . After being in some other mexican or better (tex-mex) restaurants around London this is the only place you will find original mexican dishes. Congratulations to the cheff!

Went to Mestizo at the end of November for an impromptu dinner on a rainy Friday night. had a great time - friendly and efficient staff, great food, very good value and amazing strong cocktails. Will definitely be returning.

Last sunday I went for lunch with my family to this amazing mexican restaurant!!! I cant believe that finally I found proper mexican food... The service is friendly and relax atmosphere. Was a large buffet with tacos, quesadillas, with 9 different main dishes, desserts, soft drinks, etc..... all you can eat for just £19...!!!!!! and also included a beer ....!!!!! You have to try it!!!!!

Very slow poor service.Did not listen to simple requests.Dispite being open all day would not serve us at 4.45PM.Had to wait till 5PM for to even order a drink as they were preparing for evening trade. If you close late afternoon why not advertise the fact.We travelled from the other side of London.A real shame because the food was quite nice.We shall not go back.

Love the food (the chicken mole rocks) and great margheritas but on recollection the next morning I'm sure the bill was wrong (not in our favour). Also waiter was fishing for a tip despite 12.5% service charge included. Shame as could be great.

Absolutely horrible!

I met up with 2 of my girlfriends for dinner at Mestizo and we were all very disappointed. I ordered the beef with potates, garlic etc. The beef was very tough & i dont actually recall swallowing any pieces that i bite into for fear i might choke. my friend ordered the chicken in a warm flour wrap. That was too salty and lacked any "normal" flavour.

The service was quite slow & had to be reminded twice of our drinks order. The only positive thing was their cocktails, where I got the Beach Boom, which was delicious. If anything i would return just for drinks and go to eat somewhere else.

Some Mexicans have told me that the food is excellent -and I really can't complain at all!

Greasy, spicy, colourful and rich -I loved it! The starters are over-priced, however.

Small minus point for the two waiters that served my friend and me....one made the impression that he just started working there and could not speak any English at all. He will get the drift eventually :)

The waitress was ok, friendly, but too busy-looking to actually listen to our orders so we had to repeat a few times.

It was also a bit loud because a large group of (slightly drunk) people were sat right next to us. That happens and I can't really blame the restaurant for it, but it is kind of disturbing.

Would I go back? Yes. Too many nice things on the menue. Would be a shame not to have tried them.

Cheese and Biscuits

Cheese and Biscuits - 6/10

Monday, March 14, 2011 - The Gordita was a new one on me, a kind of fried corn pancake thing filled with pabellon - shredded beef with a tomato/chilli sauce. Crunchy on the outside, not too greasy, and containing a decent amount of moist beef, it was a very good example of what street food can be - pleasant texture contrasts, edible without cutlery, tasty and addictive. At 4.50 it wasn't hugely expensive either. At 7.20 however, the flautas couldn't really justify the markup...The frustrating truth is, if you stuck to beers and the smaller dishes and turned a blind eye to the prices, you could have a genuinely lovely meal at Mestizo. The stuff they do well they do very well, and the stuff they don't do well is easily avoided.
