This place just gets better. I am lucky enough to live walking distance away, and have been coming since it opened. Every single meal I have eaten there (which is usually once a fortnight) has been better than the last. On Friday I had the most delectable warm salad of baby octopus and crispy bacon, followed by an unusual and utterly fabulous halibut with ox cheek. The only thing that could be bettered is the bread. Go!

Went to The Pig`s Ear on a Friday night for dinner with friends. After sitting down at about 8.00 our drinks were served quickly, and our wine and food order were taken by the friendly (knowledgable) waitress. Starters were an excellent steak tartare, chiken broth with poached egg and a hugely popular "tea smoked" beef carpaccio. All were devoured with plenty mmms and ahhhs. The main courses were equally rated with entries such as pork fillet with snails and delicious butternut squash and halibut with ox tounge, smoked eel and tarragon which, I was assured (I was not offered a taste!!) was fab. Most of us opted out of dessert, but a goats cheese and lemon tart with blueberries was shared and the general opinion was that it was a good finishing chapter.

All in all nice wine, nice food and nice service. All the ingredients for a fantasic night out.

Keep it up!!

what a pleasure of a place, truly a gastro pub worthy of the title with not a lamb shank and spinach anywhere to be seen!

all food was exceptionaly good without exception. Sensible sized portions, interesting combinations, pork loin, mergeuz sausage and snails with snail and butternut squash; halibut, smoked eel and oxtongue. served by a charmingly discrete waiter who likes working there because 'always clearing away clean plates is a nice job', its priced keenly as well, 3 courses, water, coffe and wine including a bottle of sweet was under £50 per head. this is a must return soon sort of place.

This is the only restaurant that actually smells like a pigs ear! The food, by the time it came, tasted the same. This resytaurant, if you could call it a restaurant, was a waste of valuable time.

The Pigs Ear is really fantastic. Food, staff and atmosphere are great, especially for that part of town. Lets all hope that it doesn't get so busy and popular that the magic gets lost!

I came from Nottingham on Sunday to have lunch with my son and daughter. My daughter had booked a table in the bar area and although it was very busy we were still able to have a normal conversation without shouting. The meal was served quickly and smoothly, the scallops were excellent, the turkey came in large steaks and I'd love to have the recipe for the red cabbage! I'd certainly go there again and recommend it as despite the area it was not overpriced.
