Making a last minute decision to go out for lunch, most of our usual haunts were fully booked. Having been here for a drink a few weeks back, we thought that we'd try it, not least because we were running out of options.

It's a stylishly quirky pub off the King's Road with a big central bar and plenty of tables. Good range of beer and a well-thought out varied wine list. Menu was also varied.

We both had a scotch egg followed by roast beef. After we had a discussion before the food arrived about how a scotch egg was a good starter because it was cold or could be warmed up, we were impressed that it was cooked fresh. Lots of beef on the plate with good accompaniments.

Overall, this place just had a nice atmosphere. No music, which is always a plus. Best of all, even though the fire wasn't lit, it still smelt of burning logs. Great. Will be back.
