Belgo (Holborn)

This is a regular Saturday lunch place for me. The beer list is huge, and fantastic! The Swiss burger is the best thing on the menu, delicious but hardly Belgian!.

The only snag with this place is the waiting staff . They are friendly, but slow to take your order and then they don't come back to see if you want more drinks with your meal etc. They're usually in a corner chatting among themselves. I've often had to go to the bar to find them to order more beer while eating a meal).

Really great selection of beer with the right beer glass to match each beer. As a Belgian, that's something to trully appreciate. The bar staff has been trained well as to how to CORRECTLY pour a Belgian beer (yes.. we love foam!). The fries are really lovely too.

This place is great for enjoying a true authentic Belgian brew, but I would skip the food, there is nothing typically Belgian about that. The moules frites are highly over priced and the portion is scandalously small. Restaurant service is not ver attentive, but the bar staff is always friendly and lively.

Very very poor service! They gave us no attention whatsoever. We had to constantly remind them we were there and it was on a Wednesday evening at 9PM! My boyfriend had his beer poured so quickly I had to practically spoon the foam out the glass otherwise t would have taken ages to drink. Food was just passable. overall I was not impressed with a meal certainly overpriced.

Out of all the "moules-frites" restaurants in London this is my favourite because it is cosier and more friendly than the others. The mussels in thai green curry are perfect and you'll want to try all the beers in the huge list they have.

I think that smoking should only be allowed on the bar side so as not to bother diners.

The service is generally very good but I must admit it can get somewhat erratic at busy times...

Matters have obviously improved since the previous review. Good range of beers and reasonably priced menu. Service was very good.

Well - I booked a table for 6.15pm. My friend arrived before me and was told that no table had been booked. She had left the restaurant when I arrived and we missed each other outside, so I went in to look for her. I stood at the restaurant 'entrance' and was totaly ignored by the staff - I was not offered help and in the end after standing there like a lemon I left. My friend was outside and told me that there was no reserved table. It was very very noisy and smokey with little thought for the diners. We did not go back in and I will never go back. Uncaring staff lousey atmosphere. Can't comment on the food as I didn't get a chance to sample it !
