I agree with the previous review.
My once favourite restaurant in Clerkenwell has now become an embarrassment.
What goes up, must come down!

My My My What went wrong , food still excellent (the Santa Fe pizza with Argentinian steak was great as always) But the service has rapidly declined. It looks like there has been a change of staff which has totall changed the mood of the place. The gorgeous barmaids who once flitted across the floor with a joyous expression on their perfect faces now seem rather miserable as does the head chef who seems as if he does not want to continue. Perhaps i caught them on a bad day but i returned some nights after and although the food was still top notch the once calm, happy atmosphere has vanished . I will return purely for the food but i am interested to Know what it is that everyones so miserable about!

The food was very pleasant and we all enjoyed various dishes. Wine confortably priced.
However, the food was slow and the waitresses were not employed for their experience!
The manager tried hard but we felt that they were struggling to cope and this was only early evening and quiet.
We have heard that it does become busier later in the evening.

WOW, never knew a place good get better. I was a bit saddened at first to see that it was quiet, but even then the staff kept smiling and gave us top notch service. This Sanata Fe pizza lived up to the other reviews and the wine list has improved with a great variety with a few for the trained pallet. I can see this restaurant being cramped every night if they keep up the good work. Will definitely being going back soon.

I agree this place has definitely got even better - so much more than just a pizza place now. I've been a few times in the evening for tapas and some beers and I've had a really good time.
Even more impressive is the lunchtime set menu - it's great value for money - I'm not sure how they can manage to do it at that price.

I was glad to see that Epicurean had re-opened and went there for my favourite pizza. I was pleasently suprised that the menu was still simular but had added gourmet kebabs and a larger selection of Argentinian steaks. Both the food and service was better than before and now I have a great local restaurant to go to again.

I had come here with a colleague a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Since then, I told all my friends about this place and went last Friday again. Unfortunately, I was greeted by, who I believed to be, the owner at the door who informed me that the place had closed down and he had gone out of business. I thought this wasa real shame as it was an innovate restaurant with fantastic food. Its so disappointing that it closed down.

Epicurean Lounge? I think Stoicist Lounge is a much more suitable name. We were much delighted at the decor of the restaurant as a first impression. However, any trace of delight seemed to have ended there. The mussels tasted absoultely awful and must have dated from the last century. The pizzas were at best mediocre and sad- looking, despite having fanciful names like 'Jacky Chan' and 'Iron Man' that somewhat raised out hopes. Desserts weren't any better. Even Pizza Express is much better compared to this. One positive note: the waiters were a cheerful and attentive group - not that it added to our experience though. We will definitely NOT go back.

I took a group of work colleagues here on a Wednesday night and it was really nice. It is a typical lounge with comfy chairs and loads of room. It was quite quiet but the service was great. The menu is quite varied and both the quality and portions were good. The chocolate dessert was the best I have had in a very long time. We had the special where two courses were £14.50 and so it was great value as well. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to head out for a chilled evening with mates or a date.
