Strada (Highgate)

I went to this restaurant on Saturday 12th May fearing the worst particularly on the service front BUT it was fantastic. Just the right level of attentiveness without being intrusive and as former reviewers have said great food. There were 7 on our party - all chose differently and all had great experiences. The waitress was really great - friendly and helpful throughout. We will go back!

OK, my previous review has been posted, so I need to add to that following another visit last night [Tuesday]

We walked in again, no booking, with the idea of just a light dinner [brunch at night if you like] and the difference was incredible.

Once again, the food is on the great side of good, although we ordered very simply, 2 starters, some bread, some wine and a salad. Prompt arrival, delicious and well presented and FRESH! The carpaccio is wonderful by the way. As usual, as many bottles of complimentary still water as we wanted, and lovely espresso to end with.

However, the real difference was in the service. Pretty much the same core of waiting staff, but they were friendly, polite and couldn't do enough.

So come on guys, you have shown you can do it, do it ALL the time, it was wonderful!!

We went to Strada last night and were totally impressed with the food. We walked in on a Friday night, no booking at 7pm and they managed to squeeze 3 of us in. The food arrived hot and promptly and was delicious.

Unfortunatelty, we also have to agree with the previous review, the service was absolutely dreadful. The table staff were abrupt and dismissive and we all paid trips to the powder rooms which involved being shoved out of the way several times on each journey by hurried waiting staff. I rarely saw any of the staff venture into smiling territory - in fact I was amazed that they were so busy with such an attitude towards their customers, but they were.

The restaurant look wonderfully clean and modern but not too contemporary and we cannot recommend the food highly enough but if you are going be prepared to be treated with a certain level of contempt and you won't be disappointed. We will try them again as the food was so good, and maybe on a weeknight to see if its any different when they ra eless rushed.
