I went to jazz after dark on friday with a group of friends, we were celebrating my girfriends birthday. We started the evening with a couple of jugs of cocktails, then moved on to dinner wich was a taty selection from the main menu, the jazz band came on at 10.30 it was an amazing jazz quartet. We had a most enjoyable evening and werelast to leave @ 3.00am.

10 out of 10 for service, food music and ambience. We will certaintly be making a return visit.

I recently went to Jazz After Dark for my hen night, having spent many a night listening to the great bands they have.

My party and I were met by extremely friendly staff, who had a great sense of humour.

The music was great we danced away and enjoyed a variety of our favourite cocktails and were spoilt for choice when it came to the wine list.

Jazz After Dark caters for every occaision and can offer real value for money with its extensive menu's..

Its the ideal restaurant that can take you from after work drinks and snacks to an exciting evening full of vibrant Live Jazz and a meal to remember.

This is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to, not just in London but in the world. There is a £10 per person entrance fee despite whether you have a table booked or not. The place is tiny and so smokey that even as a smoker myself you will have a banging headache after an hour or so. The food is absolutely terrible -The chicken was straight from the freezer and covered with a can of cheap tinned tomatoes. Potato wedges were just uncooked lumps of potato. The cocktails were watered down.

The band is also complete rubbish.

I cannot think of a single positive thing to say about this place. Save your money - DO NOT visit jazz after dark.

this is the WORST place i have ever been to - the food was awful (straight from then freezer), table space non-existant and staff rude; our food came frozen, we asked for waiter to take it back and then they said all we did was complain!

theres an entry fee per person (for the live jazz) but this applies even if you (are stupid enough to) have a table booking.

if you like quirky jazz, give it a try but definitely don't go for food or if you want to impress a girlfriend/boyfriend. go somewhere else, anywhere but here -- WORST venue ever and i've been to some!

Its strange to read a few negative reports about Jazz After Dark. I have been quite a few times now and absolutely love the place. I happened upon it a while ago after having a very disappointing meal at the Lebanese restaurant opposite. A group of us walked across the road and went for some cocktails and music to make up for the bad meal at the other place.

What a great place. The atmosphere is superb...particularly when there is a good band on. We have become regulars on a Thursday night when there is an excellent blues band on (BluesMix) every week. Its always a great night. Very relaxed with wonderful music. AND we can sit down. Such a nice change from standing in a packed bar listening to rubbish piped music over the speaker system. Highly recommended! Check it out for yourself. Try out the Thursday night.

I was there at the week end we were a group of ten,we had a really good table up close to the band which we booked in advance. We had an absolutely lovely night. We started at 8pm with a few jugs of tempting cocktails, followed by dinner from the a la carte menu, huge portions,(Spanish mixed grill/ Chicken Fajita / BBQ Mixed Grill) all tasting superb. The whole atmosphere was amazing. The band came on @ 10.30 it was a six piece funky jazz band called Mixed Company, they had us all up dancing and singing along,

I would highly recommend Jazz after Dark for its food/ atmosphere and live music....well worth the £10 admission charge. We are already planning our next visit.

i have been here once before, when i was looking for something a bit different from the average london jazz bar to entertain some friends from paris.

the food is terrible, the music OK, not exactly exciting and not worth the cover charge and the atmosphere was, well, a bit dull. all in all, i doubt i shall return

I was down at the venue over the weekend and they had a band on called "Platform Four" I have never heard anything so amazing in my life, it was truly the best band i have heard in a very long time. My hat goes off to the staff also, the place was extreamily busy all night and they done a marvelous job making sure everyone was kept happy. I think the only thing that spoiled it was a couple who CONSTANTLY complained about not being close enough to the band and other silly complaints. I think it's people like that who don't seem to realise that in a Jazz club you are supposed to sit and appreciate the music NOT try and get close enough to the band to sit on the drummers lap. Lets leave that behaviour to the 14 year old groupies shall we!

Above all the best night i have had in a long time. Bravo!

Jazz After Dark was absolutely the most horrible place I'd ever been to. I would NOT recommend it to anyone at all.

We were there for a company Christmas dinner and they showed our party of eight into what can only be called a BOX. There was no elbow room whatsoever and whenever someone had to leave the table, three other people had to stand up and shift furniture around so there was space to move. The waiters were understandably unable to accomodate our requests for another table because it was fully booked - but in the first place, the entire place was the size of a large-ish broom cupboard! And the very cheap decor seemed untouched from the 70s - not in a trendy way unfortunately.

Oh and then the food! If it could be called food at all. It was probably boiled in a bag before serving and it TASTED like it. The waiters were ok - one cool waiter, the rest were humourless.

The band was not bad, but then not so good either - and after they played, came round and shoved a hat under our noses to beg for change. Do they not pay the band to play? What was the £10 cover charge for then?

Speaking of which, some friends wanted to join our party for drinks after dinner, but were told by incredibly rude management that they would have to pay a £10 cover charge or order the £22 set dinner.

We were in laughing hysterics the whole night that anyone could charge anything at all for either the food or the ambience. The bare hostility coming from the management was utterly unbelievable.

We probably should have followed our gut instinct from the beginning and left the moment we saw the place. But we were hoping that some redeeming feature would surface in the course of the night. Sadly, we were proved wrong - even copious amounts of wine could not make the place seem any more pleasant.

When we left the owner/manager said "Don't ever come back!". He certainly didn't have to say that - none of us ever will.

I had booked for 6 people for Saturday Nov.26th and when I asked the person what time we should go, she said maximum 8.30 p.m.

We arrived at 8.20 p.m. and we were the first people there until all the rest arrived at about 9.30 p.m. when we had already finished our food and had to wait until 11.00 p.m. before the music started.

The food was ok but nothing to write home about.

The service was excellent.

But my real complaint was the music. When we walked in we were asked to pay cash 10 pounds per person for the music!!!. (why could we not have paid with our bill at the end!!)

The music started to play at 11.00 p.m., played 4 songs and then stopped for a break at 11.20

We started to complain at 11.45 because the music had not yet restarted to play and at 11.50 we left the place complaining very strongly with the owner that we had paid 10 pounds per person to listen to 4 songs!!.

We were really annoyed and unsatisfied how the evening ended.
