I had lunch in the Muse today and have to recommend it. The decor is excellent, and the art on the walls, a photographic exhibition of Jazz and Blues singers matched to the background music was spot on. One of the girls got out information on the photographs and photographer for me, and she was well researched on the art. It is good to see someone have the courage to do something a bit different.

The service was friendly and good, but the food was absolutely brilliant. We had a salad and pork, both of which exceeded expectations. The menu descriptions do not do justice to what was served.

We just went in for a quick cup of coffee and ended up staying about two hours.

If you are on the Portobello Road, it is well worth a visit. In everything they do, they do it well.

Tom Kime has left the building!

We went back to Muse today after a gap of about a year and were so very disappointed. The food was decidedly average – the service inexperienced – the girl could barely pronounce the specials and neither she or the chefs have any idea what the fuss about food is.

Enjoyed an excellent meal here - good honest food, well cooked and presented. My husband said it was one of the best steaks he'd even had. I had the belly pork - also very good. Nice atmosphere even though we were there during the afternoon. Good value for money. Will certainly be going back.

We have always enjoyed eating here, but something has changed. Has it changed hands? Have they got bored? Has the chef and the Maitre D moved to pastures green. It was appalling. Service was by waitersses from the Woolworth school of cuisine. The wine we ordered from the list did not exist, but the replacement was similar..as it was the same colour, different country, year and grape, but hey, its red.

The chef seems to have read the the Good School Dinner guide. If its meat, dont listen to the customer, what do they know, leave it raw. If its green, boil it to death.

There are scores of great restaurants in Notting Hill, my advice is 'walk on'.

It was the choice of my friend to dine here on Friday 19th, chosen from the Harpers guide. Being very particular on dining at new restaurants, Muse is probalby the best dinner I have had in a very long time. Sceptical at the size of the restuarant, this hidden jem filled up quickly and booking is essential. The Menu is limited yet explosive, a fantastic firework of ingredients and flavours that sucessfully caters for all tastes and diets. I had the stuffed baby squid for first course, which was prefectly cooked, a sure sign the chef understands his food. Followed by the gnocchi, the unexpected dish (usually with tomato and parmisan combined) came plain but with an excelent grilled pepper compot with fresh parmisan to taste. The perfect house wine was a great compliment to the dishes. Yet it was the chocolate pudding that complimented the evening...it has to be tried to be understood. The service was very good, and a perfect wait for courses. And value? How do you value a resturent like this without taking advantage? £29...3 courses, with bread, large glass of house white wine, water and service for myself (just over £200 for 7 of us...mostly without first courses ) This is a very, very good restaurent in my eyes...intimate, fun and in every way delicious. I will be back soon, the journey from Surrey is well worth it...and so should your journey too.

Took up their Sunday tasting menu offer (selection of dishes in tapas size at £2.95 each) There is no doubting the honesty of the pricing and the overall impression is a very pleasant one but the food is often over ambitious. The contrasting flavours are too clear cut and fight for dominance - it is fusion food that in spite of fresh ingredients and good cooking fails to..well fuse. That said it is a welcome newcomer to an increaingly staid restaurant scene in Nottinghill where mediocre fair seems to more than satisfy most people most of the time (electric brasserie take a bow). The service was faultless and friendly and the chef himself darts between his shoe-box open plan kitchen and the dining area obviously loving to share his wealth of knowledge with the customers. It is perhaps the only establishment in the area that leaves you wondering just how they make ends meet - that's how honest the prices are. 3stars (*****if music be the food of love ****heavenly muse ***Food@The Muse **amuse bouche *we are not amused)

Went there on a Monday night by pure chance, tempted by the Dinner Special that was on the board offering 3 course meal plus dessert for £12.50.

The service was very nice and prompt, the design of the restaurant is minimalistic and slick with artwork on every wall and oh my dear... the food was amazing!! Little portion (was a sort of a samples menu) but superbly presented and absolutely delicious with a hint of Thai flavour in every course. The chef is actually selling his book in the Restaurant, he's a real talent (he was the chef in charge of the Thai dishes at the Jamie Oliver's wedding!). I really loved it and soon I'll go there again.
