Went to the Narrow to celebrate my wife's Birthday and have nothing but praise about the quality of service, food and drinks on offer. Clearly the management have read the bad reviews and sorted their act out.
To put it into context, this is just a pub with GR's name behind it so dont expect a michelin star venue but it is above average for gastropub food/experience etc.

Had a meal at The Narrow on 15/8 for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary and our first visit to a Ramsay location..
Food was OK. Service was OK. Tables too close - felt awkward about hearing, so clearly, other customers conversations. Also annoying to hear the pub quiz happening in the next room. 2ft weeds growing up against restaurant windows. Seats uncomfortable - I had a bum ache after 30 mins.
Nothing special - a very ordinary pub experience.
Gordon does so well at rescuing other failing businesses it's a pity he does not pay more attention to this venue.

Just had a meal with some work friends, we booked a table for 10 arrived at
1pm and had our main course at 2:20 !
When we asked why we were waiting so long they told us that we had to wait because we had a large party, even though there were a party of 6 suited heavily drinking men with around 4 waiters serving them at once .
The waiting staff were grumpy and slighly snobby, one of our party even had a starter dumped in her lap with hardly an apology .
We had to order our desserts when we received our mains so that we would have time to eat all three courses before we had to return to work.
The only reason i can see is because we were a group who do not drink wine so therefore wasnt going to spend a lot of money, and we had the set menu which was also cheaper then the a la carte.
I have eaten at the Savoy Grill which is also Gordon Ramsay and that was excellent . This restaurant does not do his good name proud.

I ate at the Narrow just over a week ago with my husband and two friends. We were left very disappointed.
We didn't exactly get a warm welcome from the reception but we let that pass. We were early so we were asked to get a drink at the bar as our table wasn't ready, which was no problem. However, when my husband asked the barman if he could add the drinks to our bill, he was very rudely told only if he gave a credit card, even though he had used his credit card as a guarantee when he booked the table. When I queried this with a waitress, we were basically told it was too much trouble to match the bills up and not really given a proper explanation. The bar was not busy at all at this point. Other pubs can do this so I can't understand why they can't.
We had a (different) friendly waitress in the restaurant but we were given our starters far too quickly: they arrived before the wine we'd ordered to go with them, and then we had to chase our wine. We were also cold because there was a window open next to us which they couldn't close.
When we got the bill, we were also taken aback to find we'd been charged £1.50 for extra bread. The food at the Narrow is not cheap so we felt this was a bit off and creates a bad impression (and we weren't told it would be charged). Our friends were visitors to London who were excited about eating there, but we definitely would not return.
The finishing touch was I emailed the Manager about this a week ago and they didn't bother to respond.

Had a superb evening meal at The Narrow. Restaurant was clean, service fast and friendly and the food was of an excellent standard. Cannot understand the poor reviews myself, remember this is a Gastro Pub not a full service Michelin starred establishment. Only negative would be it can get a little noisy during peak hours of service.

Don't go! We were served tea in a dirty teapot and I ordered bar food which was supposedly potato cakes for 6.50 which came and were two refried tiny croquettes which were burned and tasted so so salty. The waitress saw my face and offered me soup which as I was starving I accepted. The soup was good with a good dose of truffle oil. My husband's scotch egg had also been made before then fried and was burned.
If it had been cheaper for the food I might not have been so disapointed but it was so overpriced and just a general low rent experience. Save your money for The Gun which always delivers and doesn't cut costs.
The service was good though!

I went there with my family last week. My expectations were so high however I left feeling incredibly disappointed.
For my starter I had the tender stem broccoli in a cheese sauce with a poached quails egg. It was OK... the sauce was clearly the same sauce in the macaroni cheese which was also on the menu.
For my main I ordered the spelt butternut squash risotto. Well, the look of it litterally made me heave ... it looked like someone had spewed up and served it to me in a very very large bowl. It tasted how it looked ..... it was vile. I left it all. The waiter did offer me something else off the menu but I felt so sick from just two mouthfuls of the risotto I couldnt stomach anything more.
My husband ordered the roast beef. He said it was nothing special. It arrived with a yorskhire pudding which was burnt to a cinder. He did complain and was given another one .. but I cant understand how they were happy to serve him a burnt one in the first place. Do not eat in this place. It is expensive and not worth your money at all !!!!

I visited the Narrow on 9 April with wife, son and a couple with their daugter. The service was terrible and we had to complain at least three to four times. These are the complaints in order of importance
1. My wife is pregnant so she ordered an non alcoholic beer and she was served a full alcoholic pint and the waiter was insistant that the pub sold the non alcoholic beer on draft. After asking him several times he did confirm that the beer was alcoholic and changed it for a non alcoholic one.
2 Although the pub was almost empty at 12pm it took the waiter at least 30 minues to bring in the drinks, which he brought atthe same time as food
3. I ordered a leek and potato soup for my son and they brought mushroom soup, and when we complained the waiter said that they only do one soup but he had forgotten to mention to us
3. After the main course it to at least a further 30 minutes for the dessert to be served and I had to go and ask twice as our kids were becoming restless.
4. At the end of the meal it took another 10 minutes to get the bill which although we had complained several times stil had a hefty 12.5% service
Overall we had no time to judge the food.

We ate recently in the narrow from the £22 set menu. Granted this is a cheap deal but being a GM venue I was expecting something a bit more than the ordinary ember inns type grub. Overall I wasn't very impressed. My crayfish cocktail arrived in the same glass as my table water came in, taste wise it was nothing different from the sunday pub prawn cocktail I've had for less. The main was a breaded chicken with an egg on top, once again it came with some beans. I would not have been able to do the pepsi challenge between this and any meal I used to eat after school. Dessert was however good. In summary, food is very average and certainly not something GM should attach his name to, I'll pay less by eating locally next time.
