I went here with a group of people on Saturday. We had pre booked a table for a birthday but didn't end up having a very nice time. It looks TATTY (ok i can live with that as long as service is decent and food is good)...however, I have never come across such rude waiters and management in my life. They never made us feel welcome, when we asked for anything, they huffed and puffed and even ignored us. The food was okay, nothing special compared to other places in Brick Lane and the portions were quite small (5 small peices if meat in the currys).
After about an hour and a half we were literally asked to pay and move on as our table was booked for someone else. This had not been mentioned when we made the booking. We hadn't finished our desserts when one these rude people, very aggressively told us we had 5 minutes to get out!!!! I have never experienced anything like this and working in hospitality myself, the were we were treated was bang out of line. Will never be back and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. (much prefer Monsoon where the staff are customer service minded and food delicious).

We used to go to Bengal Village all the time - about 5/6 years ago - and it was brilliant then. However, we were there this week, and were so disappointed. We each had something different - and they all looked and tasted the same - total homogenous brown curry tasting sludge!
Not hot enough either, the food was barely luke warm which was rubbish. Also got charged £7 for poppadoms - yikes!

I love this restaurant, it is clean, welcoming and has a beautiful blue glow flooding the dining room.
I have always found the staff very friendly and the food is fresh and delicious.
Consistently good nosh, always have a good time-spot on!

Visited the Bengal Village for the first time last Friday and had a great meal. The menu was varied, the service quick and the food served was excellent, and much more varied than my local Indian restaurant. The pickles served with poppadums were also really good. Also, we were not hassled in by staff on the door, unlike a lot of nearby restaurants who were almost pulling customers in off the street!
I will definitely go again on my next visit to London.
