Jamie's appears to be a nice place for after-work drinks - when we visited, it was bustling with office workers letting their hair down in a very noisy and liquid fasion.
The service was polite and prompt, if a little too eager to recommend that we upgrade to a bigger portion of starters. The drinks were decent, and not overpriced.
The food, however, was diabolical. I am not a fussy eater and still I thought with the first forkful that the fish I was served (I ordered fish and chips) tasted like scooping out my own armpit. It didn't get better. The chips were nice and crispy, and happily there were a lot of them. My girlfriend's lamb salad (a great dish in principle) was a little better, though the meat was stringy and dry - it had seen better days, and plenty of those, too.
All in all, even with a promotion card (50% off food only), three of us ended up paying just over £50 for a large sausage platter to share, three mains, a coke, a beer and a mojito. That's not expensive, but I suspect that without a promotion the bill would have been unacceptable, considering the quality of what we got.
