I happen to visit their establishment in Maida Vale.

In my opinion

I can't believe some of the negative comments.

The food is good, the coffee is good, so's the ice cream.

The eggs are fantastic

The staff; well mainly very busy Eastern European, who work very hard and don't need the public giving them a hard time. Their not hired because their cheap but because they work hard with enthusiasm.

Your in London, so a waiter asks someone why they want to take the service charge off, he's a waiter not the accountant

I personally know the owner who is a very good business woman and would like to hear of any critisism.

Instead of whinging, to the waiting staff, ask for Geraldine (The owner), tell her Nigel McLaren said you take constructive critisism on board and deal with negative critisism immediately.

Forget the negaive reviews, I had a glass of the Italian house wine, a crab and avacado salad, and a daily special of ricotta and asparagus ravioli.

The wine was drinkable, noting special, but at 3.80 a glass, I cannot complain.

The crab and avacado salad was excllent, warm firm but ripe sliced avacado, with very fresh crab in mayonaise.

The ravioli was also excllent, although, having just come back from Italy, it was a little over boiled, however it had very good flavour, and a nice rich sauce.

For just 20 pounds, I was impressed. Those who complain about the food clearly have missed the point, altought I can understand the comments about the service, even though I did not experince, so to say, bad service, they did not really say anything, and pretty much slammed the plates on the table.

I visited Raouls last sunday for brunch, I was in the area and noticed how busy it was. Great outside seating, nice sounding menu.

In summary it was horrendous!

I should have known from seeing the eggs benedict that it wasn't going to be good. The hollandaise was watery. The eggs were hard poached and the ham was PLASTIC! The fake stuff you get in multi packs in the supermarket. It looked appalling. Yet they happily charged £6.75 for this small plate of badly made food. and £1.50 for an extra hard egg.

The coffee was tasteless, I had to have an extra shot added so that it wasn't just hot, brown milk. Some of the fries (frozen) were still hard in the middle. My sandwich was made from ready bought sliced bread of the thinnest, most cardboard like variety.

Finally it was the noisiest cafe I have ever been to, we could not hear each other talking. It was chaos.

The final bill was £22 for two people (2 dishes/ 2 coffees/1 fries)

I asked the waiter to remove the optional service charge, to which he asked 'why?' .If something is optional then I shouldnt have to explain, but I gladly did because I was so disappointed with this place.

I've been coming to Raoul's for a while since it opened. The quality of the food has remained the same, still very good. However, the service is appalling. The only way to describe the experience is chaotic. There is no clear waiter to seat people, the staff don't seem to have allocated tables to wait on, the manager is in his own world and the bar is so busy our drinks always arrive after our food. Really hope this picks up soon... its such a shame to spoil something so amazing.

As a (fairly frequent) visitor to the area as opposed to a resident, all I can say is that having been taken to Raoul's by friends I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the surroundings.

We went early evening and had an excellent meal - value for money and the quality and choice was good - service not bad.

I'll have to try morning for the eggs on my next visit!

I finally tried this new Raoul’s on Talbot Road, which was recommended to me by some regular friends from Maida Vale.

I have to say I was quite surprised. This Raoul’s is much bigger and roomier and the deco is interesting.

The place was great for our big party – 7 of us - so we did not have much to wait to get tables put together on this busy Saturday lunch. The bar in the basement is fabulous to have few drinks between friends.

This is one of the best Eggs Benedict I have had for a long time, especially in London. My other friends’ choices look very appetising too indeed. Service was quick and attentive.

I will recommend this hidden Café, at last something much more interesting has finally replaced the old Coins.
