Five of us had different dishes last night. In each case the meat used - lamb (tasted like tough mutton) and chicken - was tough and tasted like it had been cooked much earlier on in the day and then reheated. Not something you'd expect from a £30-a-head restaurant.
As I pointed out to the manager when I complained, Ragam, in Fitzrovia, consistently manages dishes with tender chicken at a fraction of the cost.
Also, I ordered the Chicken Biryani and specifically asked whether the accompanying sauce would be enough to cover the rice and a nan bread. "Absolutely", said the waiter. He couldn't have been further off the mark. Consequently I ended up leaving half of it because it was simply too dry to eat.

Really not your typical Indian restaurant; food taste delicious, you can taste quality of ingredients which other indian restaurants take for granted.
Attentive staff, worth the food and service.
try the prawn Bhuna, veg dopiaza, and my partner had the Barra Channa.

I'm sitting here writing this review eating beans on toast, as we have just left the restaurant before having our main course. This was down to the service, or lack of it. We were seated at 7.45pm. We had to ask for drinks. Twice. They eventually arrived after twenty five minutes. When they could be bothered to take our order, my partner asked about something he had ordered and was looked at as if he was stupid.
Veg samosa were good, but the special potato dish was like cold mash with a bit of spice and some yogurt dribbled over it. We then waited for our starters to be cleared, but after 15 minutes of waiting thought we'd let them know that we were feeeling "slightly neglected".
The manager then decided to get on the defensive and rather than empathising with us and apologising, he started to argue with us. No, really, he did. By this stage we had lost out appitite and decided to get the bill as we'd had the worst dining experience we'd had in a very long time.
It's a shame as this was out third time to this restaurant and we were really looking forward to it as the food is normally very good, but to be fair we've had far better service in Pizza Express. All in all, very very poor.

BRILLIANT food, great atmosphere and great service! Loved the wide variety on the menu and starters, mains and desserts were all really really really good!
Waiters were all really friendly ...always smiling! Haven't seen friendly staff like this anywhere else in London!
Had a great time and will keep going back!

The best indian in town. I love the restaurant; the food is great, prompt service and a pleasant effortless atmosphere. Hampstead is by far my favourite restaurant for a sunday family meal.
Best dishes are Prawn Bhuna, mixed tandoor, chef specials.
Go with a friend, as a couple or a family, the waiters are eager to please, the food top quality.
Enjoy.

I went to this place on Saturday evening with two friends. We arrived at 7:45, eithout a reservation and asked the headwaiter for a table, which we got without any problem. Initial impressions were good, but when the food arrived it was boring and not very enjoyable. Just before 9, 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving we asked for the bill and paid the almost £80, a lot of money for the food we were given. And before we could even finish our drinks we were asked to leave the table as it was reserved for someone for 9. The waiter had not mentioned this when seating us, so we were slightly surprised. In the next 2-3 minutes he came back 3 times. When we protested and asked to be allowed to finish the last few sips of our drinks, he scolded us and claimed that he had gone out of his way to find us a table and that we should be thankful for the opportunity to dine at the restaurant. All in all an appalling behavior, a real Basil Fawlty moment. Needless to say I will never go back and I would not reccommend this place to anyone!

I had a meal with five friends and my experience was very enjoyable.
Perhaps I had a selection of dishes which they did particularly well but my thought was that its the best Indian food in London. My friends all enjoyed the food.
The service, whilst efficient, was rather hurried because it was full but I expect it would be good if less busy.
The bill was what one would expect for a restaurant serving freshly cooked food in Hampstead, a bit pricey! But its an expensive area and my food was very good indeed so thats par for the course. As its full most evenings evidently the prices dont put off the Hampstead set!
This is definately somewhere I will go again when I want something a little upmarket and a delightful meal.

Live nearby and go here regularly.
Its always busy here a good sign always
I usually have the calicut fish curry
and the shish kebab kabli(lamb) both of which I thoroughly enjoy my wife ranges over the menu and has not had anything she did not like.
On Fridays and Saturday its packed and you need to book.
Service very friendly can sometimes lapse
late at night during the week - but when they were at full stretch last Saturday for example -n o problem.
Go its reliable and quite romantic.
