The Grange Pub and Dining Room

The Grange is a lovely pub overlooking Ealing Common, comfy sofas inside and a great beer garden.
As other reviewers have said the Baked Camembert is heavenly. I've also always enjoyed the pasta dishes on menu. The roasts look very good but they don't offer a vegetarian option so I've never been able to try one out. I'm not really a sweet person but my husband assures me the puddings are fantastic.

Great location for a reasonable pub in Ealing. Good garden are out the back and a reasonable selection of beers.
Wine list is shocking and the food is really nothing to write home about. Standard sort of pub fayre: burgers, fish and chips etc.
I’ve never had a problem with the portion size because I've never felt the desire to finish what is put in front of me.

Met friends who were over from Oz ( and staying nearby ) at the Grange last night . Lovely decor and great music and the outside area looked good for summer--if it ever arrives !! Lovely to be on the edge of the Common too BUT........
the food was awful !!!
Not a great deal of choice compared to most pubs these days, overpriced compared to other similar pubs in our local area ( Staines , Ashford , Englefield Green etc ) and the portions were stingy and not particularly tasty !! :-(
The "chips" that were on the menu turned out to be around 5 or 6 fattish jacket wedges only--in my case hidden under a small piece of fish next to a tablespoon of tiny peas !!! :-(
All four of us came out as hungry as we went in feeling we'd been "had " !!
No wonder there were hardly any diners in !!!
Such a shame at such an attractive looking pub !!

Excellant pub!!My wife and I popped in just for a look having only discovered the place the other day taking a different route home and what a great spot to have as a local!! The food was great my wife tried the Mullet and found it cooked to perfection and presented well whilst I tried the Braised Lamb Shank one of the best I have had I have to admit, mouthwatering. The service was relaxed friendly and the atmosphere was just right The Bar area seemed busy as well as the restaurant a good sign I am sure. Will definitely be back!!!

They have a wide variety of drinks - even pimms on tap!!!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great chefs...

I took my family here for a birthday and was very embarrassed by what turned out to be a terrible meal. The only good thing about the evening was the wine which we drank a lot of to get through the meal.
Firstly, the tables and chairs were totally mixed so we were all sitting at different levels at wobbly tables, which made sharing plates a disaster. Secondly the menu was definitely designed for the winter with barely any summer light meals, pumpkin risotto is not enticing on a hot summers night.
Our appetizers were tasty and well presented. However the main courses were all over-cooked and cold. Cold black chips are not tasty. The deserts were a slight improvement but let down when the waiter was asked what flavour ice-creams there were, at which point he produced a scrubby piece of paper with a list of completely misspelt ice creams.
I regularly drink in the Grange and have previously enjoyed their Sunday Lunches, which is why I was so disappointed with the restaurant. This restaurant is definitely not value for money. It's a real shame as the décor and general atmosphere in the bar is lovely, but totally falls apart in the restaurant area.

Be careful - it would appear that there is a difference between the quality and value in the Bar menu to the Dining menu,
Went to the Grange with some friends last Saturday night and was entirely disappointed with the food. I was not feeling very hungry so had tomato soup and bread. The bread was very dry and did not come with any butter/spread. The soup was ok but nothing spectacular.
My girlfriend had a steak sandwich and this is where things went terribly down hill. It was a piece of very poor quality rump, very gristly, served in two slices of limp barely toasted sandwich loaf. It came with some very fat soaked "chips". A serious rip off at £10 - Steak sandwiches usually run between £6-8 and there is definately better value in Ealing somewhere like the North Star
On a whole, I like the Grange, but I feel it has deteriorated in the past year, and will mainly be using it for drinking than eating from now on

We have recently moved to the area and were looking forward to trying some of the gastropubs/restaurants in the area. Having been disappointed by the food at Ealing Park Tavern and Charlottes Place (not good value for money) we didnt have high hopes for The Grange but thought we would give it a go.
Oh how wrong we were-anyone looking for good, simple pub type food that is well cooked and full of flavour-this is your place. Added to this is the view of Ealing Common from the dining room and the beer garden which was already full on a Sat night and its only April. Note there is also a bbq in the beer garden with the usual burgers etc but also things like chorizo sausages, swordfish and your choice of salads.
What I really like about this place is that it caters for all sorts-at 7.30pm on a Sat night there were young families there with their kids, groups of 30 somethings, workmates and older couples enjoying a quiet meal together.
We started with a pre-dinner drink in the garden. Mine was a glass of well-chilled Cava and hubby had a Leffe (they have on tap). The food is excellent-can recommend the mussels and foie gras parfait for starter. Mains- lamb burger and fish and chips stand out. They've added some lighter dishes to the menu for summer eg sandwiches which is good. I'm a real stickler for dessert- Sat night is our treat night so for me this is the highlight of my meal-and The Grange hasnt let us down. The chocolate brownie is to die for!
All in all, a fab place for drinks and food and will only get busier as summer sets in!

My partner and I went for the three courses with wine routine in here. We were not disappointed.
It's definitely above-average and certainly a pleasant place to be. But we felt it fell down on the atmosphere somewhat. There is something missing from the soul of this place that makes me wonder if it was built for the summer.
There is a conservatory area which was closed off (we visited in winter), forcing the drinkers into a smaller area and hence making the dining area nosier. I think that warmer weather would really open this place out, so we will visit again.
