i have eaten here on a few occasions when visiting london via baker street and have to say ,i have never had a bad meal here.
i think they tried a full gastro menu but with the business school being right next door ,most of their customer base ,just wanted quick eats
i have eaten steak and chips on at least 4 occasions and am happy to report the steak and the chips were great on every occasion, i think maybe the other reviewer was right though when he suggested not selling chips alone.
"the pub" part has a well stocked bar and serves a lovely pint of guiness

I suspect the restaurant side of things has changed since earlier reviews of The Windsor Castle. We ate there at the weekend and it was really good. The food was tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. It's a charming little pub and quite cosy when the fireplaces are alight.

This would be gastropub started out well but quickly lost its way. There are very few customers buying food and although they had a few good ingredients initially, these seem to have been replaced by poor quality ones. This is possibly a money saving tactic but it is false economy. We had some bar food recently(steak and chips). The steak was as tough as old boots and there was a handful of frozen chips. Not exactly a gastronomique delight! I feel that the owner has very little experience of running this kind of venture and it is doomed to fail. Perhaps he should look at some of the other local pubs who are doing the same sort of thing and see where he is going wrong. The ambience is also lacking.

I think the problem with this place is the lack of interest in the food. I went there recently and nobody was eating. The chef was playing backgammon or something similar with his commis. I think that the low supplies are due to the fear that they are not going to be sold. There are lots of student types in the bar eating bowls of chips. I suggest the management do not sell chips on their own as it is an insult for a decent chef to be making bowls of fries all evening.
Sadly, I think it is not what the locals want. Perhaps a rethink of where it is going will save it from disaster. I really like it but it is pitching at the wrong level for the area/clientele. The bar on the other hand has got it right. A good mix of bottled and draught beers and reasonable wines. I wish them well.

Beautiful dining room and interior, but a disappointing experience with the food. Two out of six main courses ran out even though the restaurant wasn't busy and the reccommended "scallops" entree came complete with one measley scallop.

Absolutely excellent. Food, service and ambience all top notch. The dining room is very special and very romantic. If there is one criticism it would be that the open plan kitchen allows the cooking smells to enter the dining area.
You have to try it, you will not be disappointed. I recommend the steak with snails and the scallops.

The food, ambience and service was exceptional. It is a fairly new venture and I a sure it will do well. It is a gastropub but I think it would give the top restaurants a run for their money. I went on a special offer which made it excellent value. Try it, you will not be disappointed. I recommend the steak with snails and the poulet noir. The starter of scallops is also delicious.
