I have been to the Pink Rupee many times . The food is consistently excellent , the staff are incredibly friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere . It is also very reasonably priced . You may have a longer than average wait for your food , but it's well worth it .

This was my first encounter with Nepalese food. The Pink Rupee had been highly recommended to me over a period of years, and I was most excited to try it.

From what I understand, the place has undergone a major transformation in terms of its decor and appeared fresh and inviting, while maintaining an intimate environment well suited to comfort and conversation.

The staff were warm and welcoming and knowledgeable and patient with my many questions. The food did take some time to arrive, but the starters were quick to arrive and kept us happily occupied until the platters brimming with main courses were set upon the table.

The Chicken Rogan and Chicken Tikka were especially good; the chicken was succulent and full of flavor. As a novice, I particularly welcomed the arrival of Raita which perfectly accompanied the other dishes. The Masala Dosa was another taste sensation, as were the Keema Nan and the Stuffed Paratha.

Incidentally, I ordered the house red wine to go with the meal. I wasn't sure what to expect, as house wines can often be temperamental, but this wine did not disappoint - it was smooth and wonderful.

In the end, we all agreed we had ordered far too much food and could not finish it. We made a takeaway of the remaining dishes and tottered out, ridiculously full and speaking for myself, very much looking forward to a return visit.

Hello everybody,

i go to the Pink Rupee regularly, i can say that the food is of a good standard, that the atmosphere is very homely and that the staff are really, really lovely people.

I can recommend the place to anyone who likes Nepalese/indian food with no fuss.

Try it, you'll like it (unless you're pretencious in which case you'll hate it)

I've been here a few times and can thoroughly recommend it. The food is perfect every time and the waiting staff are friendly and convivial. Admittedly it can sometimes take the food a while to arrive, but it's well worth the wait. I wouldn't necessarily take a date here, but it's excellent for groups of 4 or more.

Certainly one of the best curry houses in the area. Both the lamb and chicken curries were tender and succulent. Pleasant and attentive yet unobtrusive service. Unpretentious and warm decor, with a lovely brass deer by the door. Great value for money, especially compared to neighbouring West Hampstead.

My partner took me to the Pink Rupee for our first date and since then I am addicted! The starters are good. The aloo gobi and matar paneer are succulent! Also strongly recommend the lamb tikka which is not only grilled to perfection but incredibly tender and served on a sizzling platter. The service is a bit slow but if you want fresh ingredients cooked in a traditional Nepalese fashion this is what you get! If anyone knows of better Nepalese in London feel free to let me know as I am yet to find any competition for the Pink Rupee! The atmosphere is always chilled and offers a good degree of privacy...and they do deliveries too!!!

My friend and I went here after reading the (only) very positive review but found a less rosy picture. The main course was lovely, if a little over-oiled but I had to spit out several bits of what seemed to be wood(!) from my starter.

The service was pleasant and reasonably attentive, whilst not being intrusive but it was very slow. I'd agree about the dingy setting too, although it was pleasantly tranquil (perhaps as we ate very early?).

The one area I cannot fault, however, was the value for money. The mains alone were worth the whole charge (which included beer and starters plus a few side dishes).

For a basic meal out, this was solid and enjoyable... just don't take a hot first date you're trying to impress.
