A friend recommended me to Haweli of Belmont that has been going for year

We were greeted with first class waiters that gave us advice on their menu. We were treated like royalty and were looked after the whole evening, the food was mouthwatering, full of flavour and top class. We had a wonderful evening and we will recommend to all our friends.

This restaurant has the usual trappings of so called celebrity glamour and genuine Indian cuisine. However, it proved to be a very disappointing experience. Firstly, the ambience is very noisy as this is due to the very congested table arrangement, I had a table for two which was barely big enough for two plates and a couple of drinks and when the main dishes arrived we had to place our drinks on the floor, we basically had a barrier between us!! But secondly and most importantly, the food was very poor, full of heavy colouring and tasted sweet, (chicken & lamb dishes) despite asking them to make it hot. Not authentic Indian food! All in all a very disappointing experience – poor food, and bad ambience, will not be returning to this place again.

Next Stop India For Wilson’s Student

After over a year of tireless fundraising, Wilson’s student Jack Carter has finally achieved his goal of raising enough money to embark on a ‘World Challenge’ trip to India. The final instalment was raised thanks to special fundraising evening held at Haweli of Belmont. As part of the charity evening the restaurant’s manager, Mirage Chowdhury, agreed to donate 25% of the night’s takings to help Jack, and a mystery donation late on in the night brought the total to the required £500.

Haweli of Belmont has become well known for holding events to raise money for worthwhile local causes, and this evening was another roaring success. There was a free raffle on the evening and prizes included free meals for two at Haweli of Belmont plus a grand prize of a cricket bat signed by the England cricket team.

Everybody had a great evening and Jack and his family were delighted that it raised enough money to help him travel to India to contribute to worthwhile local projects in schools and villages. Mr Chowdhury said “We are always happy to try to help the community in which we serve, and tonight we’re delighted that Jack Carter has completed his fundraising at Haweli of Belmont”.

We recently tried this restaurant for the first time. I have to say that we found it to be truly first class. The waiters were wonderfully attentive - we were served by the delightful Jaz - and the food was out of this world. Absolutely delicious! I couldn't recommend this Indian restaurant more. Superb! We'll be back .... !!

We went here last night for my husband's bday. It was absolutely divine. Very friendly staff they couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious, I had a red hot spicy lamb korma which tasted just like a durban curry. The food wasn't too pricey and they have a really nice wine list. We had 2 starters, 2 mains, side dish of rice, bombay potatoes and garlic nan bread, 2 large quarts of beer and one bottle of wine and it came to £55. Not too shabby.

1/2 hr wait for booked table, (not even offered complementary drinks while waiting,) no waiting seating area, just constantly asked to move when take away customers wanted to collect food. 1.5hr wait in total until meal on table, on complaint we were fobbed off with a bottle of cheap wine and a bottle of mateus rose (which my son insisted on) what else do I need to say! (we won't be returning)

One of the best Indian restaurants you will visit outside of London. The place was completely redesigned a year or so and they have done a marvelous job of it. Very modern feel, very friendly staff, excellent menu that offers the old favourites as well as some I have never seen anywhere else. The most expansive wine list in any Indian restaurant I have ever seen (and I have been to a lot) and all it is in my top three Indian restaurants of all time.
