I've been coming to Gulshan now for over 13 years (my partner's been coming for more than 20!).

It is always great food. The spinach, lentil & chickpea dishes are perfectly flavoured and the peshwari naans are delicious. Although I'm a meat eater, I enjoy the vegetarian dishes very much here so that's what I tend to have. I also love the butter chicken and king prawn dansak.

The staff are all very friendly and polite. They always greet us warmly & shake hands. The boss is one of the sweetest guys around and makes every one in our group feel welcome especially if its their first visit.

I suppose I've been to Gulshan more than 50 times and have never felt disappointed - just full up, happy & looking forward to the next visit.

I have been using this restaurant with friends for over 10 years now. We book lunch on the round table with 7 of us and they service and food are excellent.

Never had any reason to complain or feel dissatisfied.

I have just eaten at Gulshan and I must say I am very surprised at all the rave reviews here. The service is clumsy and intrusive - we had to clear space on the table for plates to be put down ourselves and the food . . . well what can I say - disgusting! The onion bhaji uncooked and unspiced. The chicken dhansak with lumps of lentil paste not mixed in to the tomato ketchup based curry sauce. The mushroom bhaji with overcooked mushrooms from the day before (i suspect) with uncooked mushroom quarters used to pad out todays portion. Revolting. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Just came back from Gulshan. I am a quite regular customer. The food was good, but the service was very rude. When we finished our food we were immediately offered the bill, without even asking for it!

Generally the service is bad, the food quality varies, and everything feels rushed. The whole experience gives you a feeling that they care more about your money than your custom.

The food has variable quality from not bad to very good. The peshwari naan is exceptional though.

Not sure I will be coming back. Very disappointed by the service the last couple of times.

I have been eating in Gulshan since the early 80s when I used to come here weekly with my Mum and dearly departed father...The decor has not changed since then and that is really no bad thing. Very cosy and tradititonal local curry hose.

I tend to order delivery from them nowadays and they never dissappoint. The tandoori chicken and chicken tikka are always delicious and tender, and not too spicy (though I adore my hot chillies my husband is allergic- but he has never had any complaints!)

Lamb tikka can be a bit touch and go, occasionally seems like its a bit dry and has been hanging around, but maybe that's because I am ordering take away. I recommend the prawn biryani- plenty of large, juicy prawns in well flavoured well cooked rice, and it comes with a very good mixed veg curry. One of my favourites and it brings back fond memories odf my childhood as that is what I used to order with my Dad when I was 5!

Sag Paneer is delicious, as is dahl with spinach- thse dished could be eaten as meal in themselves. Also try the paratha and the roti..they are better than the nan.

Just talking about it is making my hungery! Think I will be ordering again tonight! : )

I've twice been to Gulshan and both times enjoyed it very much. First impressions were slightly worrying as the wine list is so basic; very generic descriptions e.g. Shiraz, Beaujolais etc. However, the wines turn out to be good and apparently well-chosen.

The food; easy to sum up - nicely cooked and full of flavour. When out for a curry you want vibrant, exciting flavours, and clearly the chefs at Gulshan know what they're doing.

Most recently I had tandoori king prawn, which was delicious, with good quality prawns. The sides were good too, and the overall experience was pleasing and satisfying. A decent restaurant and one I will return to.

I've been living in Clerkenwell since the 80's, and I've been a regular at the Gulshan for just as long. My daughter has grown up with regular visits to this friendly welcoming restaurant that is so much more than your regular Indian. The tandoori dishes are always cooked to perfection - the tikka is juicy and flavoursome always. The head chef (if you are lucky enough to meet him) is a legend - just read the reviews in the window!
