We had driven past Nakhon many times and always said we must try it, well I looked it up on this site on Friday to find out how to actually get in there, well we were so impressed by others reviews we couldn't wait but couldnt get in for Friday so booked for the Saturday, We were very impressed with the view, our seat and the ambience, the service was the best we had ever experienced, so attentive and helpful. We opted for the 4 course set menu, which was excellent, just too much for us to manage it all, but we would highly recommend trying it, it had a selection of some very tasty dishes, just make sure you are extra hungry if you do try it. Cant wait to go back and take other people , and will be telling everyone how good it is.

i had a friday night dinner at the nakhon thai with my wife, i found that the food was absolutely delicious (only if you're into sea food) if your wife does'nt like it then you probably should'nt visit. however i myself loved it. mixed seafood, stir fried vegetables, vegetarian noodles and fragrant rice are to die for. friendly and prompt service, beautiful layout. would make a brilliant indian restaurant, probably one of the best if converted to one, given the location.

I have reviewed this place before but felt I should add a few points. Went on friday and everything was immaculate again. I never get bored of their seafood soup for two.

I had the lamb cooked with peppercorns. Sensational.

Just a hint: Check out the barge moored directly opposite the restaurant. It is a bar and run by a charming gentleman. It is like sitting in someones living room. However, the owners stories are fascinating and he is very welcoming.

We went here for dinner last Friday. Lovely surroundings and also a live singer. Nice romantic mood.

Food was excellent. We had a pinapple and grape duck curry and a mixed seafood dish ...both were really really nice. We had egg fried rice to go with this. For starter we had a big seafood soup and the beef and peanut sauce... very lovely indeed!!

Had a cocktail, a beer and a bottle of water. It all came to £56 for two. Good portions ... so good value

We will def go back again!

Having eaten at some dismal Thai restuarants I was not sure what to expect with this restauarant. Having eaten there on a number of occasions I can honestly say that this deserves a 9.5 out of 10 rating.

The ambience is just right with service that is not too intrusive but is polite. I have never had to wait an inordinate amount of time for our order which is another good point.

I suggest you try the Britannia Quays entrance which is far better than the "other" entrance which looks like something out of escape from new york. The setting on the river looks beautiful and the interior not too over the top.

The food is stunning. You can taste the ingredients and you do get the impression that the food is very fresh. The Lamb in peppercorns is to die for and the rice dishes fluffy, fresh and just perfect.

Having eaten at the Blue Elephant (which is also outstanding) this is a great alternative although somewhat cheaper. This offers value for money but excellent quality food combined with awesome service. Almost like being in Thailand but without the jetlag and seedy bars.....

If you love thai food you MUST try Nakhon Thai (Waterfront) and you will be pleasantly suprised. 10 out of 10.

I live near Nakhon Thai, have been there many times, and every time has been brilliant. I cannot fault the service, the food or the location, though if you approach the restaurant from the back - as the previous reviewer says - it does feel a bit dodgy. Instead, park at Britannia Quays or around at the hotel and walk around the waterfront to the restaurant - it's so much more impressive when taking a lovely lady, and feels a lot safer as well... If coming by DLR you should get off at West Silvertown and walk through the Britannia Quays village to the restaurant.

Overall I give nine out of ten for Nakhon Thai - they are so good that the only way they would reach a ten is if they allowed you to BYO wine/champagne and charged a reasonable corkage charge of (let's say) £3 per head!!!!

Nakhon Thain Waterfront is reached by the sort of back road you would imagine Jack the Ripper used for his evening entertainment with ladies of the night. Burnt out cars and tramps around burning oil drums would not look out of place. If you are taking a nice young lady there on your first date, expect her to have sweaty palms until you lead her, not to an unpleasant and bloody demise, but into an oasis of light, colour and vibrant thrumming of voices and music. The restaurant is completely glass fronted and looks out over the old Royal Victoria Dock. Old dock cranes line both sides, along with apartments blocks and hotels, along with the Excel Centre. It is all nicely lit at night in blue, red and yellow as far as the eye can see. Aircraft take off from City Airport and head for the restaurant which, believe it or not, adds to the ambiance. It is the epitomy of a gritty edgy urban location. The food? I have to tell you....it is seriously good, as are the cocktails. Richard (the owner) does not miss a trick. He keeps a very experienced eye on all that comes and goes. Scallops for starters are light and fluffy white marshmellows of flavour. Gai Gra Praouw chicken dish with fragrant whole peppercorns packs a punch without losing flavour. The sugar snap peas with red peppers was quite an astonishing side dish. The snaps were done to just the undercooked side of al dente and in a very piquant sauce. It looked good and by golly it tasted good. Order it, you will love it. A very good musician from Sardinia on guitar and harmonica does some really excellent "Eric Clapton unplugged" renditions. If you can, ask for an upstairs seat when you book. You can see the dock area better than from the ground floor. There is a table for 4 and about 3 or 4 tables for 2 up there. I can honestly say I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal there. I always come away thinking "Damn, I wish I lived just across the road....I'd be there every night"!

I found this on your site and couldnt believe the consistently great reviews.

So I had to try it. Food great, service great, nice atmosphere and excellent views. Margaritas made to perfection. It was packed which is amazing as it is so difficult to get to (Our black cab got lost!)

Well worth the trip!

This was my second time at Nakhon and since my first visit I just couldn't wait to get back. I find the atmosphere fantastic with the back ground music. The food was great and the service still high quality. I just wish it was much closer to where i live. Since my first visit I have tried a number of Thai Restaurant and this is the best so far.

Undoubtably one of the best all round restaurants in London. Pleasant, attentive staff, great ambiance and some of the best thai food I have tasted made with very high quality, fresh ingredients. The mezzanine level gives fantastic views down the dock and as it only has 5 tables feels very romantic. Live music that fits the mood and prices that won't break the bank complete the picture in one of the best places to eat in London.
