I went to Monkey Nuts last night. The specials looked amazing, I settled on the lamp chops. They were cooked to perfection and the jalapeno jelly that came with it was fantastic. They make it themselves. The girl serving me was very friendly and just the right amount of attentive.

Monkey Nuts is awful. We are huge meat eaters and this place pretends to be a steak house.
Our last visit two days ago my Chicken didn't taste of anything - literally! If you blind folded me I would not have known.
My partner ordered medium rare steak frites which consisted of anaemic frozen chips and the cut of meat was braising steak which was kind of stewed in an extremely salty red wind and shallot sauce - the shallots were still raw and I don't think they had cooked off the alcohol so it was overpowering. As they had cooked the meat in the sauce rather than applying it after the steak was done, the meat was grey/purple in colour and over cooked.
The waitress asked if we enjoyed our meals (we had left most of them) and we said it wasn't nice at all. She was really good and went off to the manager to see what she could do. She came back and said that the manager would take off the service charge but that was all (which was discretionary!). Poor waitress! It wasn't her fault and she was the one going to be out of pocket. We gave the waitress her tip as it was unfair but we will never eat there again. We live in crouch end and there are so many better places to eat - ones that are not a nursery where parents think it's ok to let their children run about. This place is always full of out of control screaming kids and now they seem to be getting their meat from battery farms or off the back of a lorry which then is handled by a chef who doesn't like his job very much.
If I could give this place a star rating it would be minus 5 out of ten.

It's a shame, and surprising that L. Hunter has had such a bad time in Money Nuts. I go at least 3 times a week, because the food is excellent, the staff are lovely and very accommodating. Monkey Nuts has managed to strike a balance between being child friendly and adult friendly. I love food, and I have high expectations of service - this is a great place to go.

I took my family for a meal as it was a 'family restaurant' and having 2 children with us thought it would be the perfect choice. On arrival we were taken to a table at the back of the restaurant where it was very lively and where many children were seated. I was disgusted to be told to be quiet when I was simply entertaining my guests who were 7 and 12. On approaching the manager after paying the bill he offered no apology at all. All I can say is after paying over £200 for 6 guests I wil never go there again.

I have been to this restaurant several times now and so far I have enjoyed the food and the service received. This little gem is nicely hidden in Crouch End and with a name like ‘Money Nuts’, you can’t go wrong.
I ordered the Nachos as my starters, which was delicious, as I have never tasted anything like it, although £5.50 was a little pricey. As my main, I ordered the Rack of Ribs at £14.95, which didn’t come with any chips. I had to order this as a side order at £2.50.
Overall, the food and service was second to none, however I did feel it was a little pricey for a restaurant out of town. I would recommend to anyone as this restaurant has the potential of a good evening out.

I agree with other reviewers who also experienced poor service. My ribeye steak, ordered medium rare, came well done, Sent it back and they left my wife to eat alone, who then had to watch me eat alone. We were not even offered an apology let alone a drink etc - the waitress was inept and said that she has no discretion to appease unhappy customers. The quality of meat is poor - the steak was tasteless. The restaurant does not accept Amex, which from my experience means that they seek to cut costs eveywhere else - most importantly, in the kitchen. Won't be going back.

We were left waiting for a table for 15 minutes which wouldn't have been an issue until we got to the back of the restaurant and there were plenty of vacant tables!
The burgers we ordered for lunch were fantastic, however the sevice was slow, unfriendly and they forgot to bring out any side orders. We did get an additional beer brought to the table that we didn't order but did get charged for!
The tables are very very close together which meant that we could hear everything that was going on at the children-filled table beside us and even had a couple of falling forks and chairs heading our way for good measure!
All in all, good food but the service and ambience would not encourage me to go again!

Was not impressed with the service, we waited almost an hour for the food. When my meal came the size of the steak I had ordered was the size of a small beefburger and for £11.95 that was not a good look. Sorry but Monkey Nuts gets a 1 out of 5
