I'm going to SARRACINO from many years and i stress that i and my girlfriend are not living in the area. Anyway last night we were there and we heard an argument between a waiter and a customer sitting at the table next to ours and i thought that there're so many frustrated people around....in my place i would have asked the rude lady to get up and go away!

However, the waiter never stopped being nice!

The food is excellent and the price really reasonable and i agree with the previous review i read the 12.5% is standard.

We also always had a fantastic welcome...then what else WE REALLY LIKE THIS PLACE!!!

Wow. I was so struck by the dichotomy of reviews that I had to chime in here. It feels like folks either love the place or hate it, as evidenced by the ultra high and ultra low scores - and those that don't like it feel that way primarily because they think the staff are rude. Well, I lived in West Hampstead for seven years, ate at Sarracino dozens of times, ordered delivery about the same number of times and love the place. The food is *excellent*. Good flavours, great selection. The lamb ragout pasta is excellent. Decent selection of wines. Don't think the food needs defending, it's excellent and the prices are reasonable. Don't know what everybody is saying about the 12.5%, that's standard. I agree home delivery mot as good ad in house, with much more limited selection, but whatever, just glad they deliver at all. But the main complaints have been about the service and I can understand a bit where people are coming from, but keep in mind that this place is run entirely by Italians. I mean, not trying to give the Italians a hard time here but hey, they're Italian! They're running around that restaurant, yelling Italian at each other...yes, if you want an ultra calm boring dinner then don't go here. If you want authentic food at an Italian restaurant run by Italians with a good atmosphere, a bit of energy, a good vibe, a bunch of "buona sera"s etc this is your place. Quite frankly, and apologies, but those who are saying that the service is rude sound just a bit snobby. Perhaps try Mayfair instead. Thumbs up from me / huge fan.

The service at this restaurant is the main reason that I would give this restaurant such a poor rating- the staff were completely unhelpful and any request we made to change the dishes (very slightly!) was flatly refused, with one waitress in particular being cold and dismissive. I agree with other reviews that the idea of paying an obligational service charge is absurd- there was NO service. With plenty of other restaurants on West Hampstead high street (with far better food and FAR better service), this is one I would not go back to.

I was eating with my friends, I got the calamari as an appetizer and the veal cutlet as a second course, my friends took other appetizers on the menu and chose the second course as pizza by the meter, everything was great, the waiters were very friendly and helpful, we spent a wonderful evening, definitely will return soon .. thanks to all staff.

I visited this restaurant yesterday with some visiting family from overseas. The food was good but the staff could not have been more UNHELPFUL. When asked if we could replace a glass of wine in the set menu with a lemonade. they thought that 'this would not be possible.' I ordered a lamb and mushroom pasta dish and after a good half hour wait they produced pasta with aubergine and peppers for me (my two most unfavourite foods). At first they tried to insist that this is what I had ordered and when I objected, they did offer to cook the dish that I had originally ordered.Taking into account that by this time we had been at the restaurant for over an hour with a tetchy 4 year old, I suggested that I didn't want to wait and eat when everyone had finished their food. I suggested that they should not charge me for my meal....Well... they went away had a chat and then offered to charge me for the vegetarian pasta ( which is clearly what they had served me). I refused. They then returned to say that they would only charge me £4 for my dish. I said it was outrageous and the service was terrible. I have no idea what the end result was, as the bill was totalled up into 'drinks' and 'meals' and they had the cheek to already add the service charge to the bill! I asked if they had removed the cost of my meal from the bill and they said they had. I said that I objected to paying the service charge, but the waitress took my card and when the machine was handed to me to enter my pin, the total including service had been entered. Had I been on my own, I would have insited on an itemised bill, as I have a feeling that I did end up being charged for my meal and I would have insisted that the service charge be removed. As it was, one of the ladies I was with had booked the restaurant and I didn't want to upset her by making a fuss. However, as you can see I am still very angry about it and trying to get it out of my system right here! DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!

Be aware of the 12.5% service charge - you receive nothing for it. We had horrible service and the food was terrible. Do not go here!

The food is always testing good and I recommend it. Ps I had a very romantic San valentine's day there plus a roses as gift from the staff!! :)-
