Banners

Well I've eaten at Banners for many years but from now on I'll be giving it a miss. Overall it's been a great place to eat hearty food in a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately the waiting staff just don't match up and in recent times have been little short of poor and surly. Until there's a change in some of the staff we'll be giving it a miss. Particularly poor treatment of our young kids on the last three occasions.

I've left a number of reviews on here about this place - some good, some bad.

Sadly, after yet another awful meal I think I'll be giving the place a miss from here on in.

On four, FOUR seperate occasions either myself or my partner has been served inedible, chewy, disgusting meat. If you're paying £15 for a meal, you'd expect to not get offcuts and lumps of gristle.

I know there's a recession on, but really - is good, well-cooked meat that hard to come across?

Probably one of my fav restaurants in London, for its ease of service, laid back atmosphere and good quality of food. I have been coming here for years now and can say i dont think i have ever had a "Bad" meal. You get popcorn when you're seated and jelly beans with the bill, great touch. The Jerk Chicken is a massive favorite for me. There is only one bad thing for me, it can sometimes get hot inside. Thats it though. Quality food, great service its quite simple.

I can hand on heart recommend this place highly. Book though as it can get busy.

Banners is quite frankly a fabulous experience - great food, great cocktails and great fun service - sounds like that last reviewer entered with a bad taste in her mouth already !

I have eaten in banners many, many times and loved it. But after last night - I will never go in there again.

Firstly I was left standing for 10 mins waiting for the waitress to stop chatting and watching telly and show me to my table we had booked. Then my guests turned up and we were then ignored for a further 15+ minutes.

She then finally took our drinks orders. We then waited another 15 mins for her to take our food order and she infact commented on what one of my friends was eating (none of her business if he wants an ALL DAY breakfast is it?)

The food then came in fits and starts and there was no apology for this. I was left waiting for my food for over 10 minutes after everyone else got theirs again with no apology.

We paid our bill at the end and gave her a tip although to be honest no one felt it deserved. We paid on cards so we all tipped that way and we were all going to leave a 'cash tip' for her personally as well (yes it wasn't deserved but I realise waitresses are not paid well)

However, after taking our card payments she then went behind the bar to her colleagues and actually commented on the 'lack of tip' from us and how out of order we were. We didn't leave the tip in the end. On of her colleagues looked ashamed and walked away and tried to talk to us as we left as he'd realised we had heard every word she'd said.

Needless to say - I will not be eating in there again as long as she is working in there.

I have spoken to other friends who have had similiar problem with the same waitress.

We have been to Banners numerous times and the service has always been laid back but attentive and friendly. The food is tasty and the portions are pretty big. Best of all is the atmosphere - it successfully combines being both a relaxed bar and unpretentious restaurant. The staff have mostly been the same for years and obviously enjoy working here. For a friendly, chilled place to eat in North London, I couldn't recommend it higher!

I am actually shocked to read some of the reviews on here... I found the service in Banners to be very friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. Our glasses were always topped up, the food was incredible and we even left with a doggy bag at the end of the evening.

Also, Banners is not supposed to be an 'American style' restaurant, it is filled with Carribean-esque food and is very laid back and hippie-ish... if it's an American style restaurant you want, there's a burger joint round the corner!!

I visited Banners with my partner and our two teenagers and we all loved it. The service was very good and the staff were attentive and chatty. We all loved the food and the eclectic and healthy food choices. The beers and smoothies were lovely although I've had better Pina Colada's.

I'm very shocked at the reviews on here and would recommend Banners very highly.

I agree with most of the reviews about the rude staff at Banners!

I went there on a Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend. I arrived at the restaurant first and asked the waitress what was on the specials she looked at me as if I asked her to do something really difficult "I can tell you what the specials are now but I will probably have to repeat myself again when your boyfriend arrives however I will tell you anyway since you can't wait 5 minutes!" Unbelieveble attitude!

The restaurant wasn't even that busy and there was only 3 things on the specials, it really wasn't that difficult and my boyfriend wasn't even interested in the specials anyway!

went 4 valentines with my partner and children.

we all enjoyed the food and service.

the portions are large and good value 4 ££.

defo go there again.
