Hudsons

Disgusting, overpriced food. One order incorrect and my meal uncooked. Apparently it used to be good, but this food does not even fall into the cheap and cheerful bracket.

Am I the only one who can see that the Emporer is wearing no clothes? First up Hudsons itself is a great little venue. There's always a buzz there, and the staff are good fun.

However, the food is mediocre at best. I live right beside it, and keep going back. Each time I go I'm won over by the ambience, and each time I dissapointed by the food.

I ordered a bacon chicken burger with on monday night. I'm no food snob, but the fillet itself was served stone cold. When I complained, they just returned the same fillet microwaved, with no bacon. WHen I asked for the bacon, it was brought up in a seperate bowl.

Now it's not the worst thing to ever happen, but it's sympotamatic of the issues that seem to plague me every time I eat there.

Very much a 6 in my book. A pity.....Good for a full english at the weekend.

Hudson's is a Putney institution. It does not serve haute cuisine but what it does do is serve great grub in an atmosphere that is better than any other restaurant I have eaten in. You can go there at 3pm, 6pm or 9pm and there will always be someone else there.

The menu is vast and covers stuff like cottage pie, paella, salads, fishcakes etc and it is all cooked to a unifrom standard. Wine list is only OK but none of that matters because the food and wine are good enough and the staff do the rest.

Whoever hires and trains them should go to every other restaurant to teach them how to do it. Great place

Recommended this place by a friend and thought it was fantastic. Great menu, delicious food, the service was perfect and lovely setting/ambience too.

The staff were pleasant, but the food was overcooked and bland, the wine was disgusting. We felt ripped off at the end of the meal. Never again.

I went to Hudsons on Monday and had a meal of a life time, fresh food served with a smile.

The sirloin steak sandwich was just to die for and the duck was fantastic, great selection of wines, to be honest there should be Hudsons 2 in Richmond were we would go more often !

But you can only wish !

I have completely changed my mind - please ignore my review below. Had lunch there an hour ago. I was served rancid mashed potatoes. It was rotten. Sour, curdled and smelled of socks soaked in liquefied goats cheese. However, when we finally managed to get the blonde lady's attention, she was shocked that we dared to suggest the mash was not quite up to scratch. Said they had been serving it all day and no one complained... She was curt and appeared to be really put out that we would dare a) complain and b) suggest there was something wrong with the food. A little later she did come back to say she didn't know how the mash turned bad as it was 'freshly made that day' (read 'freshly microwaved to order') but at least she seemed to agree that mash potato is not supposed to taste of athlete's foot flavoured cream cheese.

It really pains me to have to put in a bad report here as Hudsons always looks so inviting. Furthermore, its local and I really want local joints to do well. All they need to do is to serve palatable and non-rancid food and maybe get more staff in. The two blonde ladies in there always look stressed and over-worked (and the restaurant was less than half full when we were in).

Hudsons. Looks inviting, tastes revolting.

Sweet, cosy place - get seats in front. Food OK - great if you're a student trying to impress a date or if it's your 'can't be bothered to cook' place. Not so great if you come here with high expectations.

This is a great find! My boyfriend and I went there last night after a high recommendation from my flatmate. It's a really individual-looking place, just a bit quirky and unusual, and there's some outside seating on the pavement as well as several different indoor areas. We were in the characterful front part, with a great atmosphere and a nice breeze coming through the door on what was a hot summer's night... Service was friendly, menu extensive and food excellent - the grilled asparagus starter in particular was delicious, tasty and cooked to perfection and accompanied by just the right portions of tomato, avocado and parmesan. It's very good value for money too. Will definitely go back - just sorry it took us so long to find out about this place!

You people who have an against remark to Hudsons must be MAD!!! Just because you've been there once and didn't give it a chance, doesn't mean you have to be digustinly spiteful about this fabulous restaurant. Deal with it matie, Hudsons is the best if you like it or not!
