I visted Morden Hall with a group of friends and family on Saturday the 5th January as an after Christmas treat ( I had eaten their in the christmas period as a work party). I can honestly say that the food was as good as ever, and my family and friends had a fantastic time. I eat out on a regular basis and had visted Morden Hall about 8 times in 2007, I will visit it more often in 2008. Many times when you visit a restaurant you get mass produced food or microwave food but this food was a different class and you can see that it is homemade and produced with care by the chef. The service is good if not great very intentive although one waitress does not have a good concept of the English language and talking to her seemed a challenge although she was very helpful when she knew what we needed. The price is very reasonable and the location is top notch for this part of London it is set in beautiful grounds and has a river at the back of its garden. All in all it was a good night and I look forward to visiting again.

My wife and I have been going to Morden Hall for our Christmas meal for the last five years, and on each occasion we have thoroughly enjoyed the experience so much so that we are going again this year. We have always found the food to be of a high standard, the service good and unobtrusive, and although it is more expensive than when visiting other times of the year very good value for money.

Morden Hall is in a very lovely setting and quite unique for that part of South London. The food is very good with an excellent selection, reasonably priced and with good size portions and on the Tuesday night when I visited, the service was truly excellent - efficient, extremely well-mannered and discreet. A visit to Morden Hall makes going out to dinner feel like a proper event rather than rolling up to somewhere on the high street and at the same time, welcoming and totally unpretentious . I would throughly recommend the place.

It's riding on the back of its lovely location in Morden Hall Park. The service is worse than awful. It's slow and badly managed. The food is average but marred by the slow service. The place always looks like it's just recovering from a major event. Could be a really great venue especially for famillies - but at the moment it's not.

I recommeded morden hall to my brother as we had a lovely christmas meal there . The service was good and it was good value for money. I was shocked when my brother went there for mothers day. He said he had to wait over an hour to be served, one meal was very good (the steak) but the other two were not up to scatch.

I hope this was because there was high demand on that special day. I wont give up on morden hall as I want to take my family there for my daughters 18th Birthday. Wish me luck;

My family of five dined here for Mothers Day lunch on Sunday 18th March 2007. The booking list at the door failed to have our reservation despite my having booked in person a month in advance and confirmed the table by telephone the week before. We were seated in a room is usually used only for wedding receptions, and indeed it still had the previous days wedding flowers around the room which were now looking distictly tired / dead.

The tables were laid with nice green Christmas paper napkins, which amused the children. Our drinks orders were taken quickly but that was about the last we saw of the waiter. We placed our orders and waited....and waited....and...waited. The summary of our very long afternoon was: Arrival 1.45pm, Starter served: 2.20pm, Main Couse served: 3.15pm, Dessert served: 4.30pm bill arrived 5pm. We waited so long that the kid's ate the chocolates they had bought Mum as a gift! My fourteen year old quipped: "You can't complain about the service in this restaurant; because there isn't any!"

The food was actually fine. We all had roast dinners, some beef some pork some lamb and everything was hot and well presented. One starter was melon garnished with mint which was an unusual combination which was not popular with the kids. Nor was the only ice-cream flavour which was rum & raisin, that's fine for adults but not good for kids.

When the bill came we'd been charged for six main courses despite there only being five of us and the advertised deal being one child eats free with every adult diner. I ended up paying for only three after complaint and was offered a free drink, but after three and a half hours we all just wanted to get out! As we left I went to the toilet to find the antiseptic blocks fom the urinals all over the floor and the door hanging off of the sink cabinet revealing black rusted paint cans sitting in a brown goo beneath.

Overall the food was good, but service very poor. It spoiled the day and I told them so. The waiter said that I was not the only person to complain.I left no tip and will not be going back. It may be OK on a day other than a special occasion when there will be less diners to be dealt with, but personally I will not give them a second chance.
