Classy dining room, fair service but food disappointing. Odd flavour-clashes (chicken livers and capers does NOT seem to work) and the whole thing far, far too expensive. One for the hedge-funders I suppose.

Five of us had a very mediccre meal here last night - patchy service and very average food. A great atmosphere but between fourteen dishes none of us would order any again.

I visited the Avenue last night with a business colleague and as always the good thing to consider is that you carry the corporate card with you. The restaurant would benefit from a bit more light as it was quite dark inside. Reception and service were good. For a main course I ordered the sirloin steak and to my surprise it came with some artistics crisps ! In a restaurant such as the Avenue the least I would expect proper chips, which come of course as a side dish for 3,8 £. Like so many London restaurants it's all pretty standard (not good or bad), but is it worth the money ? I doubt it.

an excellent business lunch, although once again we spent more on booze than on food. The rissotto starter was rather large but so flavour some that I had to eat it all. Thank god the roasted cod was tiny. D too had a sucessful choice of tuna with lentils. Only pooh is the fact of never getting the same waiter twice and then having to wait so long for the bill.

After many years of waiting, I did do the tourist thing in London this last year, I had the occasion to dine in this restaurant. English food is splendid and the city was exactly as I had envisioned it all these long years, although bittersweet.... No Bobbies, no Beatles, No bliss, just walk about....and the museums.

We went to The Avenue on Saturday and found it surprisingly easy to get a table. First impressions were that it lacked a buzz. The art work on display depicted odd and somewhat inappropriate images. The food however was good with the oysters standing out as unbelievable value. The steak was cooked as ordered and other mains were cooked and presented well. We paid about 50 GBP per head, and that's about what we expected. A good but not exceptional evening.
