Went yesterday for the "early bird" menu and the food and service was very good indeed.
There is a great chef in the kitchen cooking simple but very tasty food.
I would definitely go back!

Went to Avenue for my birthday last weekend with 9 of my friends, and had a great experience. We were seated on a circular table which worked really well for our large group, so we could all talk to eachother, and because the restaurant is large and airy with a warehouse feel we didn't feel uncomfortable to make too much noise. It has a very relaxed feel while remaining quite classy, which was the ideal atmosphere I wanted for the night.
The food was delicious, everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered and the prices were very good value - on the set menu you could get 3 courses for £23.50 and the a la carte menu had mains from just £15! I had caesar salad with sardines for starter and salmon fishcakes for main and they were both excellent.
Only downside I would mention is that at the end of the night we waited quite a while for the bill, only then to find they had added another table's costs to it! However, they corrected it without a fuss.
I would definitely recommend the restaurant for a party with friends or a casual weeknight meal with a partner.

I took my girlfriend for her birthday having heard great things about it from friends.
The place is very big but feels pleasant and warm, very much like the places I used to go to in Manhattan a few years ago. The very heplful barman made us some nice cocktails and we chatted at the bar soaking up the early evening buzz.
The food is a mix of British and European classics and I went for the sea bream while my partner went for the hanger steak with chips. Both very tasty and well presented. We had a lovely bottle of St Chinian and a couple of glasses of Sauternes and both felt very satisfied with our meals. Will definitely go back.
The walk in St James Street and this area of London is very pleasant after a good meal and some drinks.
