Sketch Glade
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
We were kindly greeted upon arrival by an uptight western European who snapped his fingers and commanded us where to sit. At first the abnormally high prices were not a shock as we thought we would get a gourmet meal. The first shock was when our white wine was served with red wine glasses, not what you would expect for the price we were paying. As for the food, it was a "necessity" to order at least 2 courses per person; it was not an option to eat as you please. The wine was just the start of a disappointing evening. When the food came, it arrived in minimal portions, which would be acceptable for gourmet food, however the veal was in meatball form, undercooked, and tasted like it came from a can of pasta. The other dishes were equally unsatisfying. The staff were rude to us the entire visit, which was unexpected especially after our party enjoying six bottles of champagne. At the end of the meal we left hungry, broke, pissed off, and offended. Overall I would say this is the place to go if you have recently come into a large sum of money and have no taste at all.

We had lunch at the Glade today. The food was correct but not impressive; the staff was friendly but not as professional as you would expect at a top end eaterie. We witnessed a mess up with some order and a very disappointed customer complaining about her daughter getting the wrong dish...
Perhaps the really different thing in this place is the deco. Absolutely theatrical, very Donatella Versace. I have still not recovered from the impression of the hanging display that held the loo-paper!!
All in all, nice for seeing what is the all the fuzz about but I am not convinced that it is worth value as a dinning experience. Too much glitter, pearls and coloured crystals. I would much better book a table at Tom Aikens...

The place is very pink and a little over the top but it may apeal to some people.
The problem on my visit was that neither the food nor the service were able to live up to the rather high expectations that one may get from the reviews here.
The staff was friendly but certainly did not leave a very professional impression. Orders, at a different table, were mixed up, and on various occasions it was plain that the staff in varying states of confusion.
The food did not save the show even though it was not bad. A starter of pork belly terrine was ok, the 'Homage a whoever' pleased my partner though. My main of seabream with excellent creamy Polenta was nice but nothing more. My partners chicken was, well, chicken that was a touch dry perhaps. The much feted dessert cake of chocolate and coconut was ok but nothing more.
The total cost was 67 pounds with a glass of white wine. So, I am afraid the place will remain in my memory for the decor more than for the food.

I went to the glade at sketch earlier today and I must admit I was not overally impressed.
Word of mouth had led me to believe I was in for the ultimate dining experience, but that wasn't the case.
Whilst the decor was certainly a point of interest the atmosphere was somewhat bland, the staff were polite but totally unaware of the fact we were there, our wine was not filled on time and it took an age to show us the dessert menu after we finished our mains.
The food however was lovely. The egg moullet was a perfect starter and my main (duck and red onion gravy) and that of my date (steamed cod) was out of this world. As for the gataeux, well it was amazing.
At £90.00 for 2, this place could have been a lot better, but maybe that was only down to how busy the waiting staff were.
In all honesty the restaurant was interesting, the food good and the waiters dissapointing.
Some might say it was not worth it, but I do think it is an experience and therefore worth visiting.

I visited the Glade for lunch with my mother and niece and I must say on arrival the waiting staff were very accommodating and efficient. Great surroundings and good value, the food I found was well above average. I only had one issue and that was with the matridee, who had an incredible attitude and would stop me from returning.

The expression on her face was worth it.. Its not often that one gets a surprise on my girlfriends face, but thanks to Sketch Glade, it happened.
I planned a special weekend for my girlfriend’s birthday and the Sketch Glade was a fantastic was to have a special lunch with a good mix of “normal” people and pretentious wannabes. If you enjoy people watching this is a great place for it, yet the staff at Sketch did a fantastic job in making those such as myself who cant afford to regularly Wine and Dine, to fit in and be part of the contemporary atmosphere and delicious food.
I would recommend this to anyone who is planning a special lunch, wanting a taste of something unique in atmosphere and subtle hint of elegance on the palate.
