Abi Ruchi is a fantastic local south Indian restaurant. We have been going for years and have never been disappointed. The staff are always really friendly and welcoming. The food is full of flavour and spice and absolutely delicious and I am not sure they have put up their prices since they opened. It is incredibly good value. The parathas are out of this world, light, flaky and buttery but never greasy. Kadala curry (chick peas) or Chemeen curry (prawns) are delicious and I have it on good authority that the Chicken Hydrabadi is a dream – creamy with a gentle heat that doesn’t burn off the roof of your mouth. They have recently revamped their drinks menu and now serve Indian wine (the rose is lovely even though a little sweeter than I would usually choose) and more unusual Indian beers such as Mongoose which is smooth and very drinkable. Abi Ruchi is most definitely a little gem.

Extremely rude.
Been a fan for years but the 'manager' clearly has no idea of loyalty or customer service - attempted to order takeaway from a friends house, well within the delivery map on their website and 3 mile radius.
Manager was incredibly rude and refused delivery despite explaining how long I had been a customer for. He told me 'not to irritate' him, they were very busy and he didn't care.
Appalling attitude - deserve no custom.

Here is my list..
The manager was taking to us like he does to his mate or stuff.
A waiter "just" brought Knifes and spoons after starter Finished and my girlfriend had to set up, forks came 10 min later...
The bill was arrived at middle of dinner without asking us do we need to order something else. My glass was empty by the way.
I think food was ok, but the manager (again) took my plate away so i couldn't finish..
then music was stop by this point.
At the end, I had to ask for bill??? Because They ware busy counting money.. I told them that i wasn't happy about their service at all. Then the manager force me to accept his apologies which is a big bottle of cobra beer to carry on my way back...

I tried to order a chicken madras and the gentleman I spoke to explained that they could not make the dish. No problem I said - what would you recommend instead? I can't do that he said. Look at our website.
Really poor attitude and service.

If you are starved for delicious, authentic and tasty South Indian food in North London, this is the place!
I have been coming here for years and still return despite moving from Stoke Newington to southwest London... Our absolute favourite dishes include the tasty chicken vada to start with the fresh coconut sambal, warm and rich crab njandu curry (dispense with cutlery for this one), the peppery and tender lamb ulathiya, cabbage and carrot (muttakros) with delicious mustard seeds and curry leaves - and top it off with light chapatis.
Don't come to Abi Ruchi if you are looking for a typical "Indian curry" !! Ask the waiters to suggest dishes from the menu and you will not be disappointed!!

If this wasn't the worst curry I've had in my life, it was definitely in the top two! I had a particular curry in Liverpool once years ago- the sort where you're like 'Wow! This seems like a crazy notion as I've just had 'so' many curries in my time, but that 'has' to be the worst one I've ever had, and I shall remember it always'. Well I had to dust those sensory memories off last night as I stood on the pavement outside Abi Ruchi in near disbelief at what had just happened. I thought this day would eventually come. The one that rivals Liverpool '03!
The weird thing which became a laugh-out-loud joke by the end was all the similarities it had to chinese food. The chicken pakoda and mango chutney to start was so similar to the sweet and sour chicken balls we used to get from our chinese takeway when we were kids it was uncanny. Then my Chicken Chilli Masala was like rock hard bits of chicken swept off someones plate from last night and plonked in, again what can only be described as sweet and sour sauce. Literally something you'd expect in a plastic bag from Asda for about £1.99. The real gut buster was when we then noticed that the rice was served with those broad porcelain spoons with chinese writing on that you get in, 'a-hem', chinese restaurants. The one consolation of the experience I suppose was the humour.
We also had sub-standard samosas- I'm not sure how you mess those up as the ones you get in the freezer of your local cornershop are usually delicious. The one consolation was the above average parata. Unfortunately there was nothing on the table to dip it in.
Also, what's worse is that we only came here because it was 2 for 1 on the Taste London card and it still came to £32 for two of us with one kingfisher each! They even charged 2 quid for the chutney tray which came with the papadums- which didn't even have mango chutney.
I think I'd only ever go here again if every other indian restaurant in the London had been burnt down for the past ten years. But I'd consider Liverpool!
