Oh dear what a dissappintment.
On arriving the place had an abandoned feel - literally as for the first 10 minutes there were no staff in sight. We helped ourselves to menus and waited with apprehension for someone to appear to at least serve some drinks. Only a couple of other tables were occupied - never a good sign especially as the Bull & Last up the road was mobbed.
Eventually we were fed and watered. My beef burger was good, my wife's spicy duck salad average and a friend's fish and chips disappointing. On enquiry there appeared to be 2 problems. Gas or rather a lack of it earlier in the evening and the chef (who might by now be ancient history). The people on the adjoining table left in disgust having waited too long and been served cold food.
On a positive note the staff were very friendly and offered us 2 mains on the house. We will not be returning.

I love the Dartmouth Arms! I was recommended to go when i moved to the area as i live not too far.
The first time i went it was a Friday, i ordered a steak and had some veg with it. Perfect! My mum, dad and boyfriend were also very impressed!
I also went back on the same weekend but this time the Sunday. I enjoyed the lunch, but some mentioned that it was very strong on garlic, i dont mind garlic, but for those who prefer their Sunday Roast traditional it can be a little off putting. I believe that the next time we go, if i ask to not have garlic with my meal they would cook it this way, as the staff are very helpful and want to make sure you have a good time.
Good local atmosphere, and attracts the young professional crowd!

Sadly the Dartmouth Arms has gone downhill, probably due to the serious lack of competition. The real ale is not kept or pulled very well. The owners should do themselves a favour and visit the Greyhound in Dulwich Village for Sunday
lunch to see how to do it properly. To be better the Dartmouth needs to lower its prices(£19.80 for two pints 1 large glass wine and 2 small bowls of chips),learn how to keep real ale and inject some happiness and a smile into the bar staff. Come on Dartmouth Arms try a bit harder.

This is a brilliant place. Good food based on quality ingredients, excellent wines (with very nice drinkable ones by the glass), and cheap; I reckon they've put the prices down recently). They offer different portions of some dishes so you can have a light snack, share or have a proper meal. Look no further if you live in the area or are passing by.

Been to the Dartmouth Arms a couple of times now (one Saturday evening and one Sundal lunch) and thoroughly impressed. Great surroundings and interesting menu. Packed both times, but able to get a table.
Probably best describes as being at 'higher end of gastro pub menu food'. Understand from other reviews that it can be a bit hit and miss, but definitely a hit both times I've been there. Nice waitress who served us as well.
