Rabieng Thai
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
Mid-October, I went there with six friends for a birthday meal; we all love Thai cuisine so after checking the web reviews, we decided on Rabieng Thai. A wise choice - we had great time, food was superb, service could not be faulted. A few bottles of red wine definitely helped the mood. True, simple decor, but their food more than compensates for that. Try their grilled prawns (beware a sauce is on a hot side), mango salads, green curry etc. and you will not be disappointed:)
One small complaint - we booked the table for a party of six, well in advance, made a point that it was a special celebration (a joint birthday) and asked for a nice seating. We were therefore quite disappointed when they showed us to the back of the restaurant (next to loos) and offered us two small single tables joint together, which would definitely not suit a party of six. Even 5 people would struggle to eat in comfort. However, after talking to the waiter, they agreed to add another small table and a matter was settled.
We usually go to more upmarket Thai restaurants, but we will definitely go back to Rabieng - if you are looking for good quality food, some interesting thai dishes, reasonably priced menu and wine list - you will not be disappointed.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is delicious and fresh and the prices are so low compared to othe restuarants on Upper Street. The chicken curry is my favorite!

It doesn't look like much from the outside but the food at Rabieng is fantastic and very good value indeed. Possibly the most authentic Thai food I've eaten in the UK. We were feeling somewhat healthy so ate grilled sea bass with lime chilli, grilled king prawns and pork with a spicy sauce. The portions were very generous and the seafood fresh and cooked to perfection. One very large portion of rice would have been enough for us both. We ate an awful lot of seafood and drank the most expensive wine on the menu and still managed to spend less than £50 between the two of us. Definitely give it a go if you enjoy authentic Thai food.

I loved the food here. They were more than happy to make me vegetarian versions of dishes too. A nice bottle of wine, two starters and two mains for £60 which felt very reasonable. I felt their was something lacking in the atmosphere but overall very impressed. Will definitely be going back for a green curry!

The atmosphere in this restaurant is nice and warm, good for couples looking for an intimate/romantic ambience. Nice candles on tables, pretty glittery embroidered chairs, didn't have the nicest fake flowers on the tables and could've had napkins instead of tissues - not that i notice much.
The staff are very smiley and attentive. The service is good, nothing more than the standard.
We thought the food was overall very good. The Honey Duck and Stir fried chicken was very tender and tasty, but the spring rolls and fried prawns were a bit on the oily side.
We thought the restaurant was good value for money. Between me and my boyfriend, we had 2 starters, 2 main courses, one noodle dish, a bowl of rice, 2 desserts (lychees in syrup and ice...very nice), 3 glasses of lemonade, one brandy, and one glass of Cabernet Sauvignon red wine (we don't drink much but they had a very good selection of wine and spirits), came to a total of £50. So its well worth a visit.
Give it a try.

We booked this restaurant for our christmas meal and not only did they accomdate us with no fuss, they provided a splendid selection of meals for the twelve of us. All agreed that their choices were excellant examples of the subtle and mouthwatering flavours that characterises the best of Thai cusine. Similarly the service was friendly and attentive and I would heartily recommend this restaurant.
