your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne

This is really a 'local' kind of restaurant, very basic decor, scrambling staff, but the reason it is generally full to overflowing is the good quality of the food and the relatively low prices. One criticism though is that they have a wine list full of terrible wines at extortionate prices.... Anywyay, I keep going back, so I would recommend it.

Went to this restaurant for Sunday lunch with excitement as my partner and I love Vietnamese food. Arrived at 12.40pm. No lights on, no background music and NO STAFF! although it opens at 12.00pm. Waited for a few minutes to see if anyone had actually heard the door slam shut as it was quite loud. Still no one arrived so I asked my partner if he wanted to go somewhere else, but he said no, he wanted to try this place out. So waited a few more minutes, still no one so my partner shouted down some stairs where we could hear some noise and two cooks came up and sat us down and gave us the menus.

Good, they have a seperate lunch menu. So we looked at both the a la carte and the lunch menu. We both decide to go for the lunch menu as the waitress arrives late for work. We wait a few more minutes for the waitress to get herself ready and then order our drinks. A few more minutes we place our order only to be told the lunch menu wasn't available on Sunday and the chefs didn't know what they were doing? Well hello! They are the chefs and therefore should know what they are preparing for us customers.

We were just amazed at the whole situation from the moment that we stepped into the place. What kind of place are they trying to run here? Shame as the a la carte menu looked good but we were just put off by the whole event and finally left.

Excellent Wun Tun soup and great beef noodle soup!

We quite liked the restaurant and the service was good. We did order a bottle of red wine, which tasted like vinegar. The waiter took it away and replaced the bottle with a new one which was lovely.

I would recommend. Very relaxing!

I'd read the london-eating reviews before visiting Viet Gardens last Friday night.

I made a reservation for 7:45. When we got there only a few tables were occupied, but the place soon filled up.

The service was great. All of the waitresses were kind enough and prompt.

The food was amazing. For starters we had the Viet Garden pancake and vegetarian spring rolls which were both flavourful and fresh. My entree of Viet Garden prawns were really tasty but the prawns were still in the shell making them a bit tough to eat. My partner had the pork which turned out to be a disappointing dish of breaded pork and vegetables doused in sweet and sour sauce. We topped it off with the banana fritters which were really lovely but heavy. All of that, plus a beer and a glass of wine came to £40.

We were really pleased and will go back.

Fantastic place. I go there a lot with my family. Great food and great service (admittedly I usually go at lunchtime on weekends or sunday evening). Some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had.

Would thoroughly recommend.

Good for the price too. For four of us with starters, main courses, various noodle and rice side dishes plus a couple of beers all round it's only around £85 all in.

Food is great. Fresh, imaginative, varied, delicious.

Seating and service are fine for the price range.

Go.

I don’t know about Pete and Anon comments but my Saturday night for me at Viet Garden have always been superb! Services were always charming and helpful and the food was simply fantastic. I know it gets very busy there on a Saturday evenings and I can see how it upset some customers when they don’t get the full attention they deserve but I can also see that the staffs are trying there best and are doing very well. I would like to support my comments by adding that I’ve been to other bigger restaurants that are extremely busy, plenty of staffs but yet the service was extremely slow.

I will continue coming to Viet Garden to offer my full support and have delicious meal every week.

Big dissapointment.

We went to the Viet Garden last Saturday night. The place was very busy, hence service was non-existent. Not all the food we ordered actually arrived. What did arrive took way too long. At other tables we saw people watching their food go cold while waiting for some of their party to be served. The staff were totally unhelpful and unapologetic even when we complained. Service charge was automatically added to the bill. We requested it be removed, which the manager did, but without apology or any sign of concern. The food was good quality but this place is running the risk of annoying a lot of people if it doesn't hire enough good staff and bring people what they order. We won't be going back!
