Yuzu is the best Japanese in NW London.
The food is excellent and the decor is nice. However, you do need to bear in mind what they clearly state on their menu - that Japanese food is often 'sharing' plates and they don't eat a starter, followed by a main course and then a pud! Best service is when you order everything you want in no specific order and it turns up when it is ready as it is all so freshly prepared.
Would highly recommend this restaurant and in particular the duck salad, the tuna & the baked aubergine with an amazing sticky sauce.

The service may not be the best but I've never found it too bad, the food is fantastic & great value and the room is very nice.

I took my girlfriend and parents the other night to Yuzu which is just down the road from my new flat. It always looks busy and bustling so I did really want to go. The food was really good in quality and value. The service was abysimal and on that basis I'd never go back. Only half of our meal appeared so we had to chase up several times. We were then accused of lying which was ridiculous. The waitresses were totally unprofessional about it although I believe that the real problem lay in the kitchen. Throughout the night, it sounded like the kitchen staff were having some sort of kids party. They were shouting, swearing [audibly so that we could hear from our table] and seemigly throwing pans around the kitchen too. In short, the restaurant lacked any management both infront and behing the scenes. It was like eating in a restuarant that was being run by kids. I will point out that the other diners that night seemingly had no problems so maybe we were the exception. Either way, a potentially lovely meal was runied by totally crap management!

Ate here with my husband on Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere (Rachel Stevens was enjoying it too!) and attentative but not in your face waiters. The food was superb - one tuna dish was so delicious we ordered it again. It is off the busy West End Lane, but far better because of it.

High quality sushi and sashimi and a resonable price. Unfortunately hot food (Katsu curry recommended) is strangely only avaliable for home delivery. It would be better if hot food was on the dining in menu.
Atmosphere is fine, although the location is someway off the busy West Hampstead stretch.

Just moved to West Hampstead. Love Japanese food. Thought we would try Yuzu. Nice ambience- perhaps a little dark. Good food. Waitresses- rude. Spoken to a friend in the area who also had the same problems with rude staff. So if you like Japanese food and don't mind the surly foreign (E.European) waitresses, this is the place for you.
