The restaurant looked nice from the outside and the friendly lady at the front door was helpful and charming.

Once inside, we felt like cattle. The menu was brought to us very quickly, the meals were thrown onto the table.

Once we completed the main course, we were expecting to order some dessert and tea, but the bill was thrown onto the table without us asking for it, nor ordering any dessert or tea. The staff started to take off the table cloths while we were still sitting at the table finishing off our wine. We got the feeling that they wanted us out!!!

I wrote to the management of the restaurant via email and snail mail, but have not had a reply yet - they do not care.

I will not recommend this restaurant if you are expecting service with your expensive meal!!!

My suggestion is to give it a miss.

This restaurant is without doubt the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. The staff are unfriendly and unwelcoming and the quality of the food is below middle of the road.

The food was thrown on the table with very little finesse and they tried to clean the table away before we were ready to move.

Whatever you do don't eat at this restaurant as there must be better places on Gerrard Street.

I would never go again to this restaurant. Seemed nice from the outside and food was of usual level, but the service was worst I've ever seen. The attitude of the staff was unfriendly and pushy. It seemed that they only wanted to rush us out as fast as possible, removed plates from the table before they wore empty etc. Table clothes were removed before we even got the bill, and the bill wasn't itemized properly.

After walking up and down in China town we decided we would go here (13th of DEC 08 ) mainly due to the fact their was seating available and the young girl on the door seemed very pleasent. We were shown upstairs to a rather large plush eating area. The four of us started with sharing spare ribs and roasted pork, the ribs were very nice and the two portions we ordered between us were plentyful but the roasted pork come out stone cold. When I asked it to be replaced it was taken but I am pretty certain it was just nuked in the microwave and returned a minute later. We all decided for the main course we would order some dishes to share, one of the party members did not eat chicken and myself not eating fish we chose between the lamb and beef dishes accompanied by noodles and rice. The menu selection its self was ok but with fish and chicken out of the equation the choice was limited. The actual mains were all of a average standard with the sizzling beef being the pick of them, the crispy shredded beef was a bit gloopy and lacked a chilli kick while the Lamb with ginger and onion in my opinion had far too much ginger in ( all I could taste). Service was ok the majority of the time although we did seem to get forgotten about between starters and main, I will put this down to the time being early evening and the fact that it was full of Xmas shoppers. Overall it was not the worst I have ever had but when we got the bill of nearly £100.00 and that included only one round of drinks I did feel that we had paid over the odds for what we got. Maybe worth trying at a less hectic time of year!

This is the 2nd time myself partner and daughter have eaten here,Top Of The Town is exactly what it is..we travelled from Cardiff this year and last year for our Christmas meal and it was again gorgeous, always friendly and helpful staff, food as usual was excellent and plenty of it.The staff were again very attentive and not once any sign of rushing us even though there were people waiting to have a table.Gorgeous table linen and chair covers too and wonderfully clean!Ten out of ten for value for money, cant wait to come again next December, and what a shame there isnt one like it in Cardiff!

From the outside and menu this looked a pretty good choice. Unfortunately this was way off the mark. The starters for two was as basic as you can get the cheap ingredients badly cooked, for instance the ribs had barely any meat and rather than cooked in a saue, had the sauce poured over, the satay had been coated and fryed. The worst dish was crabmeat and asparagus, sounded nice but was crabstick soup ontop of undercooked asparagus - we had to sent it back.

All in all a very dissapointing meal.

The only think they got right was the wine was nice and served chilled.

Very overpriced and poor quality food - I would have been better off going to a "cheap buffet" meal.

This is the most unpleasant and revolting restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. My husband and I went there to have a quick dinner before the cinema and I can honestly say that the food is pretty appalling. The restaurant is lacking in cleanliness and friendly staff. The food was terrible, you can’t find less disgusting food anywhere else. The staff is pushy and it seems that you are on a conveyor belt: you can read it from waiters’ face impressions and their manners that they don’t care about you, they just try to get rid of you as soon as possible because someone else can come alone. Future more the prices are not so cheap bare in mind the awful atmosphere and disgusting food.

I just wanted to say that these guys tried to overcharge us by £50 last night and when we queried the amount, they rushed us through the various costs using the chits on which they’d taken the orders down on as evidence. After trying to reach the total they had using these, it was still evident there was an extra coming from somewhere. We requested on several occasions to see the itemised receipt feeling that this would be simpler than running the prices off at top speed. It was only after about 10 mins of negotiation and persistence that they finally revealed the receipt which proved instantly that they were at fault and had charged an extra for 2 bottles of wine we hadn’t had. I just don’t believe for a minute that this was a mistake. Our order had been pretty straightforward, 2 x 1 type set menus for 4 (for 8 people in total) and roughly a drink each. I for one will never being going back. The length of time it took to resolve what should have been an easy solution left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
