I am mexican and I have never eaten as good mexican food outside of Mexico than in la taqueria. While other pseudo mexican restaurants claim to serve real mexican food, such as the chillie con carne, I can only say that the food is good. so if you are looking for real good go. I agree is a bit expesinve, but every whim has a price.

i thought this was a great place, really enjoyed the food, the chargrilled prawn dish was amazing, as was the ceviche. I would defnintely recommend this place to anyone in the area, the food was incredibly fresh and very tasty. I recently went to a place in new york which was really godd and this was on par with that one. You should defintely check it out. Reasonable prices too + the service was good.
I would go back.

I have no idea how one of the people further down said that this is true Mexican, that it is the clsoest thing to Mexican this side of the border. Though I am not Mexican, I am from California which is close enough:) - Mexican is our native food. In no way shape or form is this traditional, typical Mexican food. I agree with one of the people below that so many typical, traditional Mexican sauces, dishes, etc, were not only not n the menu, but the staff looked at me like I was crazy when I asked. It's not that they were man, the service was OK, with a nice smile to go with it, but nothing to ever bring me back. Another person below wrote how it is tapas style food-well that is completely right. But although the Spanish did conquer Mexico, the cuisine is not the same. Tapas is NOT mexican and shouldn't be masqueraded as it. I was thouroughly dissapointed since I was craving real Mexican food. But if it is Spanish that you are looking for, then maybe this place isn't so bad.

I agree with some comments below that the service is a little bit amateurish. I don't actually think the prices are that outrageous for this part of town - two tacos for £5.50 max - the bill came to just over £20 ahead including a couple of beers each. The food itself was ok, nothing special, just another option away from the many Italian and Middle Eastern restaurants in the area.
One thing I think this place could be good for is a quick bite - the wait for the food was pretty short (though I accept this could be a bad sign!). That's probably going to be the basis of any future visits.

Awful! Hugely disappointing for what could have otherwise been a great success story. Having spied what looked like a gem on a Saturday morning we returned for dinner and frankly were throughly disappointed by the mediocre food, the amazingly tiny portions, average service and, for the experience, outrageous cost. You have been warned!

I actually totally disagree with this really harsh review that was made.
I personally went recently to Taqueria for diner with a bunch of friend and had a fantastic evening. The food was very good, simple and fresh. The Principe of that restaurant is a Tapas style which is lots and lots a little yummy things. Just don’t be scared to order more and more until you truly satisfied and try it all! The service and atmosphere were very nice and warm especially if you have a few of these deliciously made margaritas!
Value for money, with a few of us we didn't end up paying much at all!

We went for lunch at this restaurant. We were disappointed with the portions and the food was not warm when served. Also, some basic Mexican dishes and sauces were non existent here. We were wondering where to go to right as we left still hungry.

My Girl Friend and I went to the Restaurant this week she is Mexican and really wanted to show me a real taste of mexici , it was early evening on a Thursday night we were the only ones in the restauarant the service wasnt good considering that a sercice charge is added to the bill we enjoyed the food but the portions were small for the money. We have a lot of mexican friends who have tried the restaurant and have been ok with the food but value for money is not good, drinks also kill it

Terrible Service! Will not return. My husband and I got all excited when we saw Taqueria one Saturday afternoon while we were shopping on Westbourne Grove. We decided to go in and have a late lunch. There were about 5-6 tables finishing up their meals when we sat down. We sat for 15 minutes while the waitress tended to everyone around us and didn't even make eye contact with us, give us menus or even acknowledge that we'd sat down. We finally got up to leave and I asked for the manager. When I told him that we'd been sitting for 15 minutes with no service, he just looked at me with a stupid look on his face and didn't even apologize for the poor service. Don't waste your time here!

I went to this Restaurant after looking at the Menu, and I have to say, it is the closest thing to Mexicano food this side of Mexico, I had the Mole Poblano very nice and very true to form, then I had some Frijoles negros de la olla which is close to how they make it in Mexico, then I had a Mexican Hot Chocolate (inwhich I never had before, but mmmmmmmmm) and to take-away, I had a Elote, corn mayo and chile, which is very nice... I agree with others, it isn't a Tex-Mex, but a real Mexican Restaurant!!
