Joan and her team are stars. On Saturday the 2nd September I held my 40th brithday celebrations at the Lavender Lady with a dinner for 24. Any concerns I had about their ability to cope with the number and especially co-ordinating the serving of the food were soon swept away with delicious starters of goats cheese, stuffed mushroon and more. The food was excellent (Joan was so accomadating in helping me select the menu that suited my guests - a lot of hungry South African men) and after 3 tasty courses we barely managed to eat birthday cake. Joan and her team made my celebration so personal, almost like having it at home but without all the clearing up fuss and of course a great chef.

I was recently a guest at this restaurant - my friend was celebtrating her 50th. Joan, the owner, had arranged a cake - home baked on the premises. The food (I am a very fussy veggie) was wonderful, wholesome and beautifully presented. The wine menu was extensive. Excellent restaurant. A gem.

Having eaten at Lavender Lady on numerous occasions for lunch and dinner I decided to have a surprise milestone birthday lunch for my mother and 13 other guests. The food and service where amazing and everyone could not compliment Joan and her staff enough for such a wonderful day.
I highly recommend.

As a regular diner at this restuarant, I am very surprised by the last review - I can't imagine the owner being in a strop, although I can imagine that she would be stressed that she couldn't provide customers with her usual high standards.
I've always found the standards and food to be exceptional and I don't hesitate to recommend it (and I regularly do).

this is a cute little restaurant in an area which seems to now be over populated with indian and italian restaurants. although i found the food to be lovely, i have numerous ocasions been waiting for well over an hour for a breakfast- the place was empty.(which by that time my partner has left to go to work and i have had to eat my food alone with his food in a doggy bag to take away). and on one occasion when the smoked salmon on muffins was requested, after 30 minutes owner came out and said they had no muffins did we want it on bread/toast. we said no thanks as to which the owner stropped off to get the muffins in a huff. ignoring my requests to "dont worry, leave it" which i felt was incredibly rude.
unfortunately due to those last events this is not somewhere i shall be going to again.

Lavender Lady is the most fabulous little restuarant in North Finchley. The food is Excellent and the staff are superb! I have had many a fabulous meal there and strongly reccommend it, especially if you, like myself, are a vegetarian, plus everything is organic. Great value for money.

I absolutely love this restaurant! It is such a find. The specials menu is really creative and varies loads so you can always try something new. Even as a vegetarian I am always spoiled for choice!
The food is delicious and really healthy and has a great "home-cooked" feel to it.
The staff and owners and so friendly and the setting is really lovely, especially in the garden in summer.
If you live in the area then I can't recommend this place enough!

We had our family farewell diner here in late August 2005 and what a wonderful night out. We sat in the cute courtyard a tthe back - the whle lace is very intimate. Great food (Scottish Slamon etc), and Joan and her great team catered to our sometimes "troublesome" gluten-free and vegetarian requirements with a smile and concern for our wellbeing. Will definitely go back!! Pity its so far from New Zealand!
