i went there me and my boyfreind for dinner as a treat and what a treat the food was of the highest quality and not that pricy i had the duck with pea and beetroot risotto and my boyfreind had a ribeye steak cooked just as he asked , as a desert we opted for sticky toffee pudding , it was the best i ever had, great food well done to the chef, i ll be back.

I don't know what planet these eaters are from - or maybe they have just been lucky. We have been to Lavendar Lady four times since Janet opened and although the food is fine the service has been appalling. We had to wait to get our orders taken, wait again to get a drink, wait yet again to be served. Each time we've been back we've hoped things would get better - but the last time I wenr fo lucnh it was just as bad. It's a good thing I'm self employed - any other boss would have fired me for taking such a long lunch hour!

My boyfriend and I went for lunch at Lavender Lady this Sunday, and it was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I have ever had.
I started with mushrooms on toast, which were perfect - the sauce was just creamy enough, the mushrooms were cooked to perfection, and I could have just eaten plates of it. My main was fishcakes, which were again brilliant. Made with the award winning salmon they are so proud of, with not too much potato swamping the fish, and with a side of home made chips which were nice and chunky. Finally was the Eton Mess, again brilliant. My boyfriend had pate and roast beef, which he said were great, and plum and apple crumble, which was lovely too. We had two bottles of wine at £12 each (although they had a £9 on the menu) and I was very pleased with the bill of £42 for the food.. I really can't fault this place! The decor is lovely, the food is brilliant, and the owner (Joan?) is so friendly. We will be making this place a regular fixture.

We were told of this restaurant by a friend and decided on dinner with 3 out of 4 being fussy eaters. One a veggie, one meaty and the third hard to please. I must say this is a most fantastic restaurant the icing on the cake being Joan taking time to chat with us even though she was busy.
A large number of regular customers arrived and were greeted as old friends - a lovely atmosphere and even better food. Recommend to anyone - but I think this one I'll keep to myself. Otherwise I won't be abelt o get a table!

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at Lavender Lady this week - and had a delicious meal in this friendly, welcoming restaurant. We can't wait to go back, and look forward to many more meals there. The menu is great, with plenty of options for vegetarian and non alike. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is a fabulous gem in North London and highly unusual as it is proud to serve the best of British food - there were dishes on the menu from every part of the United Kingdom. We went there for a birthday lunch and were blown away from the charm and warmth of the proprietor Joan Ferguson and her team. The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the decor of the restaurant was modern (don't be put off by the name - this isn't an old fashioned place at all!). I would definitely go again. Highly recommended.

Had a look on this site tonight for a restaurant to go to.. Had driven passed the Lavender lady a number of times on the way to and from work. Had been there many years ago when it was under different management and have to say that this young lady that has it now is a shining example of someone who knows how to make you feel special. Here focus on getting it right is second to none and the food on offer is spectacular. OK you may be thinking whats this guy on but I can tell you; 1) I am not easily pleased when it comes to eating out & 2) no I am not on the payrole I was genuinely impressed. I would not say that it was one of their busiest nights, by a long way, but nothing was too much trouble. Questions were answered fully about the food and what is used to prepare it. You felt that when ask 'is everything ok with your food' there was a genuine hope that it was and that if I, or my wife, had said that things were not right, then things would be done to ensure that you were 100% satisfied. The owner, Joan, mentioned in other reviews here, is very approachable and wants you to feelspecial, so I felt. If you want to go eat a quick Pizza then this is not for you. If you want to go have a meal that is of a superior standard in a great, welcoming place then go give it a try, like we did tonight.. We will definately be going back thats for sure.. hope . Well done to the Lavender Lady!!Enjoy

Joan and her team are stars. On Saturday the 2nd September I held my 40th brithday celebrations at the Lavender Lady with a dinner for 24. Any concerns I had about their ability to cope with the number and especially co-ordinating the serving of the food were soon swept away with delicious starters of goats cheese, stuffed mushroon and more. The food was excellent (Joan was so accomadating in helping me select the menu that suited my guests - a lot of hungry South African men) and after 3 tasty courses we barely managed to eat birthday cake. Joan and her team made my celebration so personal, almost like having it at home but without all the clearing up fuss and of course a great chef.
