been to la menara with a dozen of friends ,we ordered a lot and i mean a lot everything was mouth watering on the menu ,i tried what they call Harira i hope i spelled it right ,also some Jawanish grilled with garlic sauce and for the piece de resistance i had the lamb tagine absolutely delicious the meat just melts off the bone , the Moroccan wine Siroua went down very nicely with the food,so did the Casablanca beer,it's a shame the belly dancer wasn't there but then again we didn't call to book a table we just busted in.
definetly going back it's a real gem ,good food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices for the credit crunch

My experience was just like the one of Sunday, October 28, 2007.
Goodness I wish I'd read down that far!
Food inedible. Service and atmosphere just awful. Totally ripped off on bill. Despite the fact that everything was in black and white the just lied.
So disappointing. Just go anywhere else. This place can’t last for long.

I go to La Menara most days for lunch because I work close by so have seen many different waiters/waitresses and 99.9% of the time the service is great. I love the food, which is why I keep coming back, but also I absolutely love the decor, very moroccan, and you can even smell a hint of incense burning as you walk in. You can choose from about 6/7 main dishes for lunch for £5.50/£6.00 each (can't remember which, drinks not included). The food is cooked by North Africans giving the sauces and spices a very authentic flavour. It is a very cosy and intimate little place. A real hidden gem.

I have been to the restaurant twice and i just love the food. Its near to my work place and easily accessible and located right in front of UCL. I have had a great experience in terms of food, friendly staff and ambience and feel of the place, which is relaxing and calm. Overall, i am quite impressed with the restaurant and is highly recommended.

we booked the mezzanine in la menara for a private party ,we went for the full mezze as it seemed really yummy, and actually it's absolutely delicious we got different kinds of starters cold and hot served with pitta bread and as we had the choice to choose the mains,so we practiclly went for every thing on the menu ,tagine barkouk, tagine zeitoun, tagine vegetarien, tagine kofta, couscous with lamb another one with chicken, mixed grill, bastilla, farouj meshwi...etc
the evening went smouthly as did the service and then the fun started with the belly dancer she was pretty good, over all we had a very nice evening without breaking the bank and every body went home happy,by the way a special thanks to the staff who served us as they were very patient and we never felt that we were rushed although the place was buzing with people

i totally agree with you there la menara is a real treasure,i've been looking for a truly moroccan restaurant for a long time ,as i have been to Morocco for many times so i was hunting for a good moroccan tagine on the net ,when i found la menara and what's more encouraging is the good reviews on their website and on different ones,so i booked a table there as a surprise for my wife as it was our wedding anniversary,we ordered a la carte although they seem to have a set menu for early diners, some kind of special offer i guess,we had about 4 starters including the delicious harira, moroccan salad, prawns briouates and kofta briouates, ,for the main course we ordered the couscous lamb and chicken tagine with lemon and olives , the whole evening was faultless, and it 's actually a very romantic restaurant, good efficient service and we were delighted to celebrate this special occasion there, thank you.

fantastic restaurant, the tagine kofta is to die for as well as couscous lamb, my friend had a starter called zaalouk i think it's aubergine peppers and courgette, and i had charcoal grilled halloumi cheese perfect and the house wine went down very well with the food all that at a good price. we'll be back soon for la menara without a doubt

Very tasty food for a very decent price. Lovely decor and very comfy couches. Staff try to be helpful but the service is a bit disorganised however as long as you're relaxed it doesn't matter.

I celebrated my birthday last night at La Menara, and what a mistake!
When I booked the table I spoke to the manager who was super friendly.
After 5mn of being there, I realised that it was a big mistake!
He made up a menu for the party, and of course much more expensive than any set menu!
He was so unpleasant, every time we ordered something it seems that we were bothering him, and at the end he ripped us off on the bill which was not itemised. I could continue with a long list but will tell you only that :
I am moroccan and I have been to many moroccan restaurant in London, this is the worst and by far!
