A perfect replica of the famous Parisian restaurant. I think they got it right and even went a step further. I've gone there a few times and the food has been consistently good, the profiteroles are out of this world if you have a sweet tooth!

Their house Bordeaux tasted great and was very reasonably priced. The staff are quite attentive and in spite of the line of people queuing outside you can take your time with your meal.

It's always a fun experience. Perhaps not exactly a romantic choice but certainly fun!

I loved it... quick, easy, good service, good wine, no queue because we went early and I will go back! I don't understand the french reviewer who hated it! I suppose it takes all sorts...

Absolutely fantastic! I loved it, my husband loved it and my kids want to keep going back to Le Relais de Venise. I don't know what it is about the secret sauce but whatever the secret is it keeps pulling us back to eat there. It is such a happy and colourful place and the people that work there are so nice to my kids. It makes a change to go somewhere with kids and see them eat their food!!!!

Amazing place, makes a change to have a place like this in London. Well done!

I am a frequent customer at Le Relais de Venise and was there last night again. As usual the place was buzzing with atmosphere, staff as friendly as ever and the food was exceptional. I don't know which planet this french guy "Elodie" is from but he obviously has no taste and must have something personal against the concept (as did all the food critics when Le Relais first opened in Sept 2005). The place speaks for itself as i have never been to a restaurant which is so in demand with such a friendly team working there and consistent good steak and fries. As for the value for money, where else can you go in central London where you pay £18 for salad, steak and fries of such high quality in such a happy and pleasant environment.? ....... nowhere! Well done to Le Relais de Venise team, don't let people like this French person ("Elodie) get you down with his invented and bad taste review. I highly recommend you try this place as you will not be able to stop yourself going back every week!

It has to be said, this place is a disaster. I am French and frankly if you think the food is good and decent value at £17 a pop, you must be out of your mind. Our waitress was a rather military-like young woman who asked us if it was our 'first time' so she went on explaining the concept. Set menu ok, I've seen that before. But it was definitely the first time in my life that I was told I would be served 70% (not 60% not 80%) of the meat in a first round and then the remaining 30% in a second service. It's just ridiculous! Give me my whole steak! What are you doing rationing me like this?! Plus, what do they do with my 30% if I don't want it?

And we were told the steak was served with a 'SECRET sauce'. When it arrived the 70% turned out to be pretty meagre. Decent meat but not much of it. And the secret sauce was merely a mustard and herb-based cream sauce. Guys, there's really no need to be so secretive about it...!

It is just a horrible place, over-priced, charmless and humourless. DON'T GO!

I have never in all my life had an experience like we did in Le Relais de Venise. We arrived at the restaurant and in order to let a mother with a pram out, squeezed to the side to await our table. Unwittingly we had made the fatal mistake of standing next to what was apparently the serving area. There was no food in the area at the time, but on being shouted at by the commandant-like head waitress we apologised and stood as far back as we could. Not good enough I'm afraid. As the manager showed us to our table she gave us another lecture about standing away from the serving area. I felt as if I was eight and had been naughty at school. The aggressive waitress then said very loudly to her manager : 'when they're eating their food I am going to go and stand over it and see how they like it'. Well this was too much. We asked the manager what sort of welcome this was to her restaurant and asked the waitress why she was being so rude. The manager then came to our table and said that her fierce little bulldog of a waitress had been intimidated by us and we were therefore told to leave. I am not sure that the feisty waitress in question would have even been intimidated by a barrage of gunfire but despite our protests they were quite adamant and we were therefore thrown out. And were we a bunch of drunken lads out on a stag do? Not quite. Two couples edging thirty who have never been thrown out of anywhere in our lives. All I can say is that this place is a disgrace to London dining and should be avoided at all costs.

Simply a fantastic restaurant. The best French-styled steak and chips in London with a vibrant, albeit slightly cramped atmosphere. The menu is simple. Starters - green salad with walnuts and vinaigrette - nothing else. Main course - perfectly cooked steak (beautifully sliced by the tentative staff) with a magnificent sauce and perfectly cooked chips - nothing else. If you have room, there is a broader dessert selection. Wine list is limited, but complements the food. Great. Wonderful. Superb.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Love this place - could not be better. steak, chips, wine. Have been to the original place in Paris and they are pretty much carbon copies. Highly recommended for steak lovers. And at 30 quid a head I thought it was good value.

OK so not as good as the Paris restaurant but still excellent steak frites and excellent atmosphere. Having been to the Paris original last week, I can actually say that I found the service MUCH better in London.

Definitely the better of the two new entrecote restaurants in London. I've gone back several times now, and have yet to feel disappointed - unlike my single experience at the Baker Street restaurant where the sauce burnt on the heater in front of us, and resembled (and tasted like) burnt butter. Fresh, good ingredients and a formula that works makes this a great addition to London's restaurant scene. And despite the £17 price tag seeming fairly expensive, it's certainly better value for money that the eurostar or plane ticket required to find the same elsewhere!
