Mamounia Lounge
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
My boyfriend and I visited Mamounia so that he could get a taste of cuisine from the Middle East, and so that we could both experience an evening of dining in Knightsbridge.
Having read the many terrible reviews this place had already received, I did slightly get put off the idea. However, my boyfriend suggested that we still go and see for ourselves. I am very happy we went!
We were served by waitresses who were all very friendly and as helpful as they could have been. A point I will highlight is that both waitresses we were served by, did assume that we were Groupon customers and were still glad to assist us with a smile and without making us feel 'low' or 'cheap'.
Yes the food was pricey and served in small portions, but this was understandable considering the location of the place.
The beautiful decor, music and belly dancer all contributed in making the overall ambiance of the place a rather remarkable one indeed. We would recommend Mamounia to anyone looking for an evening of fine dining with cash to splash!

Me and my husband came to Mamounia Lounge with a Groupon voucher, which was not a cheap voucher and we paid many extras as well for the drinks and tea.
The staff were incredibly rude and condescending towards us and could not even muster a smile, they looked very miserable indeed. In addition to that I found the prices very expensive for the very average quality of the food. You could find better quality and more delicious food at much cheaper prices at other restaurants.
When it came to desserts, we were told all the desserts we were entitled to were finished and the only options we had were the muhalaby, ice cream and baklawa. We concluded that probably because we were Groupon customers we were being treated like that unfairly.
There appears to be a confusion with the management with regards to the Groupon deal. A Groupon deal is supposed to encourage the customer to come back to the restaurant to pay as a normal customer because they liked the place. So if Mamounia Lounge were hostile about the deal and the customers, then they should not have offered it in the first place and we were given such bad service that we will never go back to the restaurant, thus defeating the purpose of the deal.
Overall we will never go back to this place and not because of the money but the principle and the treatment of customers.

I visited the place today, I was not very impressed.
1. The food is over priced and quantities are small, the mixed grill was £18 and it came with two strips of kebabs, 1 x lamb mince kebab and 1 x chicken cubes (4), a small quantity of salad and did not include rice or pita.
2. The starters were equally over priced, 12.50 for mixed meze which contained small helpings of the cold meze.
3. Portion of rice had to be purchased seperately £3.
Any place on Edgware road will give you the same quantity of food for £25-30
I would not recommend going to this over priced place.
They most probably realise this, hence the Groupon coupons, which I think are £25 and allegedly give you food for £61, Trust me you get food worth £25 as well, there is no value in the coupon.
Do not even think of the bar, unless you have negotiated a second mortgage.
The GOOD part was the brown rice, a help ful hostess and clean toilets.

We came for afternoon lunch. When we presented Groupon deal we were using, attitude of the staff and managers changed dramatically and since then we were treated something like "the poor nuisance we must serve". Despite me trying to grab attention to place order, other tables coming after us were served first, manager clearly showing who the boss here is. After long time we finally placed order. The food itself was good quality bur lack presentation and any of the WOW factors I would expect from restaurant of this price level.
Despite spending much more that just Groupon value, the manager did not say a word when processing the payment, not even thank you or good bye, despite making mistake on bill before and having to correct it. The attitude of the staff and LACK OF EVEN A GLIMPSE OF PROFFESIONALISM was absolutely outrageous, particularly when we saw how differently they treated regulars with shopping bags form Harrods. My message is clear DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WAIVE MONEY TO THE STAFF AND CARRY BAGS FROM HARRODS, or you will be treated as a scum.

We went to this restaurant on saturday night with a groupon voucher and i was quite excited about it as I'd read the menu online and it sounded great. I was so disappointed with the night, it was a real let down.
First of all after picking the wine the lady spent about 5mins at our table trying to open the bottle. She finally got the cork out and poured our glasses and once she left we realised that there was cork all through both glasses of wine. After making this fact known, they brought us another bottle and again she struggled and again there seemed to be a lot of floaties by the end of it (not sure if it was dust from the glasses or small pieces of cork), but we just went with it as we didn't want to be too problematic and make a scene.
After selecting my entre of bread with tahini and veal it came out like a toasted sandwhich but had pine nuts all through it which wasn't mentioned on the menu at all and I can't stand pine nuts. So they allowed me to pick another option which I did and we were only just starting to get into that when they brought out our mains and tried to clear away our starters. I really hate when the mains are brought out too quickly after the starters, let alone bringing out the mains before we had even finished our starters!
The main that I picked was the grilled king prawns which costed £21.50, and when it arrived (a) they weren't prawns they were langoustines, and (b) for £21.50 I would expect to receive more than 2 with a small salad garnish!
Needless to say overall the meal was light and not overly fulfilling. We asked for the bill and after seeing our waiter cleaning two other tables rather than actually getting our bill for us, we left our money for the cost of the wine and walked out.
Certainly not a restaurant I would recommend to anyone.

Looks like a great place - but poor service kept us out.
A friend and I were only there for a shisha, and as soon as we arrived, we were greeted in a surly fashion, asked to go inside and ask for a table (when several were free outside). When we walked in, no-one paid any attention to us, and when they did, very quickly told us we had to leave in an hours time, spend 30 quid and pay 10 pounds in cover charges.
We went outside and as we were sitting down 2 other waiters repeated exactly the same thing with quite a bit of disdain, at which point we decided to leave and go to a more welcoming place.
Dissapointed and disgusted.

Not sure why this restuarant is part of the Groupon discount as they obviously do not want you there . Went last night and it was quiet so we could pick our table as long as it was 1 of four . Ordered wine - 15 mins later it arrived - ordered food - didnt have the starter I required - not a problem - so ordered the cheese sambousek - unfortunately there was no cheese inside !!! Then ordered the sea -bass for main - this was ok - but nothing special . What really annoyed me was the fact when I came to pay the manager came over and said though the sea bass was 21.50 and the groupon voucher specified main meal up to £19.95 I haven't charged you (the extra .55p) This would be fine but the sea bass was £19.00 !!!
The only positive from last night was one of the waitress's was friendly and accomodating - the other two not as much . Also what is with the waiting staff wearing hoodies ????

I really hesitated with booking in the Lounge for 15 people after I read some the reviews.
To sum up my personal experience: The best shisha I have ever had. Great cocktails and excellent service, music and vibe.
You cannot pre-book a table outside for shisha but if you don't come too late you can join the waiting list. You should expect Mayfair prices.
