I went to Below Zero on Friday night with a group of 12 to celebrate my birthday. As far as the food goes, it has to be one of the worst dining experiences ever. Some of my friends had the steak which tasted of lime peel as well as the mullet which tasted like orange peel. Someone really messed up in the kitchen...Portions were miniscule and some of my friends confessed to getting a bacon sandwich on the way home! Even the banoffee pie was a poor effort. Its a shame because the atmosphere was great, really well decorated and the cocktails at the bar were awesome. We had a booking for 9pm and were seated in the bar for 30 minutes presumably so they can add a £10 cocktail to the bill...which is just as well because it was the best bit! We came here as a follow on the from the ice bar above and the whole lot came to £85 per head. A complete utter rip off - i really would not reccomend that anyone eat here at all!

I went here not too long ago with my boyfriend after going to the icebar. The food was amazing and the service was good! Although quite expensive it was well worth it! I had a great coctail with crumble at the top-think it was called 'rasberry crumble'? The atmosphere in the resturant was also lovely which added to a very nice evening, recommend it highly!

Last night I decided to break with the norm and head to the West End for a bite to eat, my usual haunts being the City or Clapham. I had heard on the grapevine that Below Zero, the restaurant beneath the Ice Bar had had a refit. The last time I went there it was good but this time it had markedly improved. There is now a clear distinction between the bar and restaurant area and the revamped menu has something to suit all tastes. The food they served had both exciting flavours and excellent presentation. Of particular note were the salmon and caviar starter and the olive oil and balsamic vinegar to accompany the bread. The Polenta offered with the vegetable platter was also great. The accompanying fine wines served by the attentive and friendly Sommelier served to create an excellent dining experience which I hope to repeat very soon.

I went to this place with a couple of friends a few days ago, it was a great experience! The atmosphere is incredible, animal furs up on the walls with icicles (fake) hanging from the ceilings! The only let down was the awful smell the place had, although you do get used to it. The drinks were incredible, try the passion fruit mojito. There is a good choice of food and also exotic items on the menu such as ostrich and kangaroo! This place is surprisingly not expensive, a couple of drinks and food for our group only cost £100, i recommend this place for anyone!

Promising friends a great time in Below Zero on our trip to London imagine to our horror when we arrived there at 3.30 on a Monday afternoon we discovered the Ice bar was closed for a refurb. No problems call that unlucky. It went from bad to worse. After ordering and paying for drinks at the bar, we were bemused to watch the decorators start painting the bar. Even better entertainment were the multitude of friends of staff who came and went in rapid sucession. So disguted were we that we sat outside to wait for drinks to arrive some 20 minutes later, this would not have been so bad if we had not been the only customers in the bar. Staff are ignorant beyond belief. Never again

Went for dinner on Saturday night with 4 friends and had a great evening. We booked at short notice and the management were really fantastic in accommodating us to a packed restaurant. This place is very cool (excuse the pun) but not pretentious like many W1 places. Had some great cocktails to start, the Au natural is wonderful. Mixture of mains in the group and all were very good, especially the risotto, which you dont often hear! My Ostrich, Kangaroo, and Foi Gras was excellent witha great sauce. Deserts were lite and lovely. Good service and all reasonably priced at £50 per head with a couple of bottles of wine. Will certainly be going back!

The service in this place is a nightmare! We booked for dinner and then the ice bar afterwards and all I can say is that we were all severely disappointed. I arrived early and so took a seat in the upstairs bar to wait for the others in the party. After waiting for 10- 15 mins I had to ask the concierge at the front desk to ask one of the waitresses to take my drink order (no service at the bar). I have no qualms about paying top $ for good drinks and good service but £9.50 for a cocktail in this place is a bit steep - especially when they added an extra 10.5% service charge to my bill for one drink! Considering the level of service I received this was ridiculous. So on to the restaurant for dinner - we specifically requested a smoking table at the time of booking and were put on a non-smoking table. When we asked to be moved they told us that they had no smoking tables. We put our foot down and were finally given a smoking table - but only for an hour. The food in fairness was lovely, if expensive, but the poor quality of service continued in the restaurant. When we had eaten they took forever to take the plates away, and while we were waiting for this to happen the ash trays must have been changed about 4 times. We then asked for the tickets to the ice bar to be added on to the bill, the waitress, who was as miserable and impolite as sin simply said 'Que?' - which is just plain rude. She evidently did not speak much English, but asking 'What?' in Spanish is in my mind unforgiveable. We explained to her again, the bill came and you've guessed it - the tickets had not been added on. We then had to ask the manager to recalculate the bill. During this time I ordered some cigarettes as I had run out - they only sold Lucky Strike or Dunhill (who smokes these?) and they were the princley sum of £8.00 per packet. The Ice Bar was okay - smaller than expected, but to be honest the excitement had been taken away by the appauling service in the restaurant and bar.

This place could be okay if they got the service right; at the prices they are charging the service should be spot on, and it really isn't - it nearly spoiled my friends birthday and all in all was a big disappointment.

I will not be going back and if I were you I'd avoid it like the plague.

Beautiful restaurant, my boyfriend and I had a booth all to ourselves which was very comfortable. Food was all exceptional, expect to pay these kind of prices in London. Staff were all friendly and not overbearing. Ice Bar topped of the evening, great fun, not too tacky. Even side bar had a good cocktail menu and a nice atmosphere. All in all great for a special occassion.

Truly awful. Unbelievably bad. Shameful. Four girls having a girlie meal - and we were told to be quiet because there was a conference going on (at 8pm in the evening) behind a curtain in the room next door. Awful. We weren't drunk and lairy - The bar upstairs was so dull we hadn't lingered! We had to whisper in the dark!!! Terrible lighting. Slow service. People walking out. Food ok - but obviously that's not enough. Never will return. Advise you not to either.

Bar upstairs was utterly over-rated too! Felt like a tourist scam.
