Great meal on Wednesday night. Love this type of simple bistro fare, but there are some great twists to keep it interesting and the food is superbly well cooked.

We both had rillettes of salmon to start, huge portion, very fresh tasting. I had the confit of pork belly with pork cheeks which was very tasty, my other half had the grilled beef which looked (and tasted, apparently) delicious! A great blackberry souffle for me for dessert and a chocolate tart for her, which thought authentic was a tad bitter for her taste. A lovely bottle of Rhone to accompany and the whole thing came in at under £100 including service.

Only slight downsides - although we like to take our time over a meal, service was a little slow at times and perhaps a tad unsmiling, althogh they were very busy.

All in all, a great place and look forward to returning.

Very good food, atmosphere and service but an 0871 phone number is exploitative, especially when the standard message is 'we are sorry to keep you', costing inordinate amounts of money when the purpose is to spend more money in the restaurant.

Have just returned from lunch at Galvins in Baker Street. It was easily the best food I have eaten in the last year. I chose the snails, steamed sea bream and the basil creme brulee and all were outstanding. Two of my guests chose the tagine of lamb and the third the calves liver. Service was excellent, efficient and friendly. This really is a restaurant that lives up to its growing reputation.

Better food than Galvins at Windows, but obviously no views and much cheaper!

We went to Galvins in Baker Street for a birthday celebration a couple of weeks ago. The food was excellent - Starter, Main and Dessert, the service was brilliant, (Im not too sure if the lady was the restaurant floor manager or the head waitress - she was wonderful, 100% perfect service ), generally all the staff were very helpful, smiley and efficient.....

I would recommend this restaurant to everyone...... and would definitely go back... Im already planning my next visit with my friends :) I have told everyone how brilliant the food is.... especially the fish and the lamb :)

The only thing I would say, is if you go early, it is a bit quiet but once past 7pm and when more tables are occupied its a lovely relaxing atmosphere......

Based on our experience last night, I really don't understand the negative reviews posted earlier. The food was excellent from beginning to end (the lamb tagine deserves a special mention, as does the tarte tatin of foie gras), the wine (suggested by the sommelier, and not the most expensive option available) was very good, and the service exceptional. We're going back in a few weeks time to savour it all again. Highly recommended.

Went for the third time last Friday I have to say I enjoyed the food, although didn't think it as great as the other two times I went.

The decor of the restaurant contibutes to a great atmosphere when full as was the case again on Friday. The service though was hit and miss with the emphasis on the miss. Not unpleasant but sloppy with long waits for wine and menus.

Would I go again - yes, but I may wait a while before doing so

We visited this restaurant on 5th July and found the experience to be excellent. Having read poor reviews of the service we were anticipating a slightly shambolic evening. I am happy to say everything went smoothly. Our booking was confirmed the day before our meal and upon arrival we were shown to a pleasantly large table in a quiet corner of the restaurant. Staff were attentive and helpful. We felt we were excellently looked after without being constantly bothered. The food was an absolute delight, with all dishes looking and tasting amazing. I was very happy with the experience, and with the price.

Had lunch there with my father for the first time. I must say that I was pleasently surprised. I have never been keen on french food, frogs legs and all that, but there was nothing like that on the menu.

My father had the roast lamb and I have the sea bream. Both were out of this world. To accompany our meal we asked the friendly sommelier who recommended a gorgeous red corbieres which complimented the meal brilliantly.

The atmosphere was lively with no music so I didn't have to shout across the table to my father to be heard.

The best part was the bill at the end. Such good value for money for a restaurant based in central London.

I have rebooked again for next week.

I have been to Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on seveal occassions. Each experience has been excellent.

Everytime I have entered I have been greated by a friendly hostess. The atmosphere of the restaurant has always been full, especially since they do not have any music there.

Waiters have been pleasent and very attentive, especially when the wine waiters are concerned. Each recommendation always accompanies my dish brilliantly and is never at a price which is jaw dropping.

Once the food arrives the experience then turns from enjoyable to excellent. The presentation, the portion control and most of all the taste is absolutely to die for.

When the bill arrived, I was pleasently surprised that something so delicious was at such a reasonable cost.

All in all, Galvin has to be one of the best restaurants in London for its time. The price, then decor and molst of all the quality. This is a true gem in the heart of central London which I have luckly found and will continue to visit again and again.
