Va Pensiero

This is one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. All of my friends and family that live in Radlett have tried it and told me not to go. But it's so busy I thought it couldn't be that bad. It was.

Welcome was very nice, decor was fine, although nothing special in any way. We were seated and 1 minute later were asked what we wanted. Said we hadn't even looked at the menu yet, were told to take our time then approached by a different waiter a whole 45 seconds later. Definitely 'get them in and out as quickly as possible' mentality.

Most of the pastas on the menu had the words '...in a creamy tomato sauce'. I went for the aubergine in a creamy tomato sauce, and was given a colossal plate of pasta with huge chunks of uncooked aubergine in a creamy tomato sauce. I think that the chef has a vat of this sauce, then hurriedly and haphazardly chops whichever other ingredient has been requested and shoves it in with some sauce. The tomato and onion salad was equally lazily prepared - massive chunks of tomato and thick onion slices which were inedible, and no dressing in any shape or form. The chef clearly has no talent or interest in food.

After not eating much, the dessert menu arrived. It had obviously seen better days - it was dog-eared like you wouldn't believe, and parts were illegible as they were smeared with brown muck.

It really is appalling there!

Went to the restaurant when we visited Wembley for the playoff final..had very warm welcome. The staff were all very attentive.we had a lovely meal which arrived promptly...very good deal for our two children. We enjoyed so much we returned on our second evening and had another fabulous meal..will return again when we are in the area.

Went today for the first time to Va Pensero. They were booked up for Valentine's Day, but fitted us in ("so long as we took less than two hours - the table is booked from 7pm").Service was fast and friendly, food excellent - would happily return. Recommend this.
