Cappadocia Ocakbasi

Outside of your run of the mill kebab shop, I don't very often have a chance to sample Turkish cuisine. Well, this place was on my doorstep, and seeing as there was a bit of a buzz going around about it, I thought it would be an ideal place to take the other half out for a Valentine's Day treat.
This establishment goes all out in making you feel welcome. Stepping into the warmth from the cold outdoors, we were immediately greeted and seated by the friendly owner. One was immediately struck by the homeliness of the place, the warmth, the scenic pictures on the walls, practically inviting you to come and see Turkey for yourself. The kitchen area was open to the dining area - always a very good sign in my opinion - allowing the smell of lavas bread and roasting kebabs to waft temptingly into the dining area.
The meze for starters was simply delightful, served on lettuce leaves and with the lavas bread which is Cappadocia's specialty. I'd advise you to dine here simply for this, I've never seen presentation quite like it anywhere else!
The main meal of shish kebab (if you like doner, then sadly, this isn't the place for you) was served with portions of rice and vegetables so generous I was full to bursting by the time they took the plates away.
They topped it off with Eastern Delight, a kind of ice-creamy version of Turkish Delight which settled my heavy stomach very nicely.
All this, with a decent bottle of French Beaujolais, came to about £30 a head. A bargain for such an excellent evening.

One of the best in South London.Delicious choise of cold & hot mezes are excellent with a specialy baked Turkish bread called LAVASH right from the oven.Anything you fancy about Turkish Cuisine...Carefully prepared and cooked on the charcoal grill in front of your eyes.
Mixed meze and mixed kebab is amaizingly large as well as incredibly teasty. Many choise of casseroles including vegetarin brought to your table piping hot by friendly and always smiling staff makes you feel relaxed as you havig your meal at home with friends.
