Good selection of food on the belt. A bit disappointed with my udon noodles, as the soup came out warm with my prawns soaked at the bottom.

I liked the self-service idea, as I like to come and not get disturbed, but it wouldn't hurt seeing a smile from the staff.

Overall, the sushi was great. The chef was very hard-working and was willing to make special orders, even though it was not on the menu.

I am disappointed about the narrow insight from some of the reviewers. Whilst I agree that Satori don't always have the variety on the belt that others have nor the descriptions for 'newbies', it is the informality of the place that is what makes me love it. Agreeing with what some of the others have said - there's no hard pushing or selling for drinks or food, if you want to continuously be fussed over and interrupted all the time, then this is not the place for you. It's almost as if you are part of the staff - just help yourself, wander over to the fridges and tea points and be comfortable! If that type of set up agitates you - press the button for service (it's does what it says on the label).

I think the menu could do with some revamping, as it's not always easy to follow or understand if you're new to Japanese food. I also think like with any restaurant that's not a rolled out chain where so much is pre-prepared elsewhere, it does depend which Chef is on duty as to the standard of the food - they should sort this out, so it's more about Satori's standard and not the Chef's standard.

Looking at their website, it seems they are opening another branch in Knightsbridge - how fabulous?! I will try it to compare what they'll be doing differently, but hope it doesn't lose the informailty they have got in Kingston.

p.s. Try the Duck soup, but get the Chef to make his personal 'Chilli sauce' to add a gentle kick. It is superb!!

Reasonably authentic flavours and fresh food on the conveyor. My only complaint about conveyor sushi is that the cost is usually a lot more than I would have spent if I were ordering a set lunch in a Japanese restaurant.

Perhaps the disagreements on quality in earlier reviews is due to different chefs on duty at different times? When we went, the man in the middle of the conveyor belt was hardworking and created good-tasting dishes. Everything was good, including the teriyaki chicken main meal. The only poor dish was the yakisoba which they claimed they were trying to do in a different way. I suggested that they call it something else since it certainly didn't taste like yakosoba should - they didn't charge me for it.

i have been to this restaurant many times, every time i go i always re-fall in love with the food.

Satori Sushi is by far the best Japanese restaurant i have been to.

I think if you are going to pass judgement on it, you better think twice before you make a rude comment about their food because it is great.

never before has the fish been dry. The ordered foor always arrives in a matter of minutes and the staff are very, very polite.

Satori is easily one of the best value sushi places in London.

Don't bother with the conveyor, it's their sets that really shine. They do beautiful chirashi with big thick slices of fresh, fresh fish that put well known places like Ten Ten Tai to shame. Their sashimi and sushi combos are amazing too. And they do excellent uni, it you can cope with paying £5.50 for 2 pieces!

A conveyer belt sushi restaurant, like YO or ITSU- very fresh and about the same price as YO, except they sometimes do special deals which are good to catch.

I go to this sushi bar quite often, at least twice a week, and I think the comments made by Melanie are quite unfair. Actually it is the informality of Satori that I like best, you can help yourself to anything you want, even choose your own wine or beer from their fridges!! But then if you want table service they have buttons in front of you which you press for attention, I wish all restaurants were made to do it! I find the staff friendly and always keen to help if you need it; there is no hard sales push like filling up your glass before you've finished and then asking if you want more drink, there is no service charge on your bill, and the food is ALWAYS fresh, I've never know it to be otherwise.

The only complaint I have is that it is just so busy on the weekends that you sometimes have to queue for about 15 minutes to get in, so it's better to book in advance, but beware, they don't hold your seats if you are late more than 10 minutes! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Japanese food prepared by a Japanese chef in front of you in a relaxed modern atmosphere. Definitely my favourite restaurant at the moment.

I frequently visit this place and would like to say that contrary to the previous reviewer I have never found the food on the belt to be dry, it's very good but the made-to-order dishes are good too. On one occasion I had a problem with service but otherwise I have always found them to be courteous and quick. It's not toally self-service, just some aspects of it are. Apart from heping yourself from the belt, you have napkins, chopsticks, gari, wasabi and soy at the table so just take what you need. You can also get beers and soft drinks from a barrel of ice, or push the 'Service' button to order them if you prefer. And you can top up your green tea from a dispenser. Plates I recommend are the crispy salmon skin handroll or the futomaki, and the mackerel nigiri - both delicious. The handrolls and the mackerel you have to order. Also the seaweed salad, fresh-tasting and subtly sharp with vinegar. But be warned - there's so much good stuff passing in front of your eyes, you start grabbing plates and experimenting, and before you know it you've got a stack of plates and the bill has escalated alarmingly.

I visited the restauarant recently. It has a nice modern feel of atmosphere, but the sushi on the belt looked dry and not fresh. I didnt dare to pick anything up from the belt. I entered the restaurant, without even being greeted by a member of the staff. It was totally self service, and what agitates me, is that the staff are just leaning against the tables and chatting amongst each other. no service was available, and the food that i did order came out warm!it wasn't even hot. I expected much more from the decor, never again.very dissapointing. It wasn't even authentic at all.

I discovered this sushi bar yesterday with freinds from work. the food was very fresh and delicious with a large variety of sushi and other food on the conveyor belt. The express lunch at £4.95 is prticularly good value for a business lunch. I recommend it to anyone who likes Japanese food and will definitely go again.
