Volt

Attended Volt last night on a work dinner. The food was poor, service slow and prices expensive. The gravadlax was tasteless and the risotto no better. The interior of the restaurant is splendid but the only reason for going is for extremely expensive cocktails.

One of the more disappointing experiences I have had at a London restaurant. We went with a large party for a birthday dinner and the waitstaff seemed intent only on opening as many bottles of wine as possible to run up the bill. Service was surly and many times accompanied by a "you should be happy" throw-away comment from the waiter when a guest complained. Food was passable, but no better. The guest is certainly not treated as such at Volt. I guess the fact that the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night shows that many drew this conclusion before we did!

Excellent. The service was stellar with the waitstaff smiling and suggestive. The details in the decor interesting and the music added to the ambiance. The food was great with quality intact and interesting flavor combinations yet not wierd or intimidating. I was visiting London from the US and will definitely return to this restaurant in the the future.

I visited the Volt recently and was pleasantly surprised as I took a friend and we went for the Special Offer! We were both very impressed. The staff were great, the food was good and the wine list was Heaven! I would totally recommend it and will be going back very soon. Great for private dining or a party. Top marks for overall value for money. Always see for yourself!

Oh dear, I'm finding it hard to relate to the reviews I'm reading on this page and felt obliged to leave my comments. This place tries to be too trendy for its own good. It is unsure about whether it is a restaurant or a bar/club and, in my opinion, does neither particularly well. I was expecting great things before I went there last night (Thu 06.04.06) for the first time. Unfortunately the food was bland with little of the flavour you expect from similar restaurants in London. The decor was interesting, but far too pretentious and gaudy for my liking. The service was 'toady', which isn't an issue in itself, but is a problem when you feel the waiting staff are unconfident in their role and inexperienced at waiting on clientele at what is supposed to be a "top" London restaurant. The only saving grace was the wine list; which I must admit was good and the sommelier seemed to know what he was talking about. In summary, a tragedy on what happens when a restaurant picks style over substance and gets both wrong!

We tried Volt for the first time on Valentines day and could not have been more impressed!

The interior of this chic and trendy lounge bar/restaurant was unbelievable! Despite its cutting-edge design, the eye-catching interior still manages to maintain a warm and welcoming ambience, thanks largely to the professional and good-humoured approach of management and the staff.

We started with some beautifully created cocktails at the lounge-bar, which is the perfect way to relax after a hard day at the office. We then indulged in a superb modern-european meal, which combined the colours and flavours of the freshest produce with brilliant creativity and attention to detail. The meal was well complimented by carefully selected wines. The deserts we amazing and once again showed great flair and creativity!

A must try!!!!

Contrary to what others are saying, I was left a little wanting from Volt. Yes, the place is trendy and glamerous; Yes, the food and the wine are delicious. But, there are lots of places that tick those boxes in London and I didn't think Volt really set itself apart. The staff were cool and good-looking, but I felt there was some direction lacking .. the bar staff seemed more panicky than composed, the waiting staff were difficult to attract to the table. The gap between the bar and the first table is too cramped, leaving drinkers squished into little groups and the diners overcome with those trying to get to the bar. The music is cool, but loud. The food is delicious but there is hardly any choice. The location of the restaurant is also interesting as there are no others like this in the area. It's a funky and cool experience, but I was confused whether Volt was a cocktail bar or a restaurant.

We ate at Volt last Saturday for my husband's forthieth.

We had a great time. The staff were very attentive, the food was excellent and the venue was great.

I would recommend a visit to Volt when you want more than just good food.

My wife and I ate here last nite and had a wonderful experience. Its a very sleek and stylish lounge with a funky vibe and a fantastic decor. We went on a Friday night and the place was filled with a good mix of people. Background music was more club-like, but not too loud (we loved it, but if you're looking for a quite dinner out, don't go). The food was very well prepared and presented, there is a good range of cocktails, the wine list is relatively extensive, and the service was spot-on (ie. not overly attentive, but efficient and friendly). Prices were also surprisingly reasonable for a venue like this, but that doesn't mean you'll get out for < 100 (with wine). The only thing I would recommend is making sure you get a table in the main restaurant (there is a smaller room off the main one that doesn't have the same atmosphere). This would also be a great place to just come for a few drinks. Overall, fantastic place...we'll definitely be back.
