Mocoto is closed!! I can't believe it, it just opened a few months ago...

I went there with some friends on Saturday and the place has been closed.

How can that happen so quickly? Wasn't this place owened by some big restaurant entrepeneur? I heard it was beautiful, that is why we went there, they probrably forgot about everything else that is necessary to make a business successful.

Such a pity, Brazil does deserve a restaurant to promote its cuisine.

I went to Mocoto with my boyfriend on Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. We had a lovely dinner! This place is very enjoyable, and although it does feel a bit too big and airy for a romantic dinner, the food and service more than make up for it! Don't feel that you have to have meat because it's a Brazilian place, I had the seabass for main and it was delicious! the portions are very generous and therefore justify the price. Try the gazpacho for starter, interesting twist on the Spanish soup I am used to! I just wish I had any space left for a dessert, will definitely be back to try one!

Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, service was perfect.

The cocktails are nice too, I had the apple and blueberry mojito which I loved (not a fan of the traditional mojito). He even recommended a cocktail off the menu which my boyfriend tried (very strong apple mojito-type). The cheese bread is a MUST to snack on in between courses! it's 'bottomless' as well (they top up the plate for free as much as you like, so you only pay for 1 portion per person (£1.50 a portion). My boyfriend grew up in Brazil so understands real Brazilian cuisine, he was pretty impressed with this place and we had a delightful meal. There were a few large groups and this place seems ideal for a group celebration! Prices are normal for those who are used to dining in good restaurants in Mayfair or Knightsbridge (think Maze or Zuma).

Will definitely be back! Great new restaurant to try, I would highly recommend it!

with no other options for dinner and this restaurant being reasonably close to the home...it seemed like the perfect place!

three of us turned up at the security guarded glass door, and without a booking on a friday, were nicely greeted and taken to a table. the atmosphere was nice, lighting was perfect and decor just right, especially the tropical theme bar. it did take a little time for us to receive our menus, both the main menu and the dessert menu, but luckily for them it is worth the wait!

i had the brazilian meat skewers to start and the rump stake for main, finished with the fresh pineapples and coconut sorbet....all were very nice!! both my friends were also pleased with their dishes and the overall experience.

the bill came to a reasonable and expected amount, no problems with that, and we left the restaurant satisfied, filled and ready for a night out on the town.

would definitely go back and gladly recommend it to anyone!

a good restaurant, but following too closely the price race in knightsbridge..

went there with colleagues, we all had the picana - a really tender and tasty piece of meat (10 oz) which came for 21 £, without side (differently to all the other dishes on the menu). So a steak and fries is at 25 £, and 13 % service on top!!

add dessert / wine / water and you arrive easily at 50£, with an attentive and dedicated service though..

The restaurant is large and impersonal, with nothing to break up the space, and neutral design that is inoffensive but boring. You could be anywhere - there's no Brazilian flavour. And speaking of flavour, our food lacked it - it was either under-seasoned or overcooked (my grilled prawns were so dry they were completely ruined). Very disappointing, especially at these prices (£65 a head).

The upstairs bar was better - good cocktails, a bit more interest in the surroundings, and Brazilian music playing.

Personally, I think at these prices you'd be better off at Zuma or Le Cercle for food & drink, or the Townhouse if you just want cocktails. (Or try leaving Knightsbridge!)

Amazing food, amazing drinks and fairly good service. The music was a bit loud and the restaurant was a bit dark, but that wasn't a problem.

I went on a Saturday lunchtime with two friends - loved the upstairs decor and laid back feel. Cocktails looked wonderful. We ate downstairs which though quiet at first, filled up later on with families and a good mix of people. The menu was so different and varied - we found it hard to choose but food was all delicious and the wait staff very friendly. Overall a great experience - would recommend.

As a Brazilian and a foodie, I was looking forward for visiting this new restaurant. The place is very nice in terms of location and decoration (but the menu needs a better presentation). The music is excellent although at one point it was turned off and the staff didn’t seem to be bothered. By the way, the staff is the worst part here. They aren’t well trained, don’t know to explain the menu and forget to take your orders. Our waitress forgot to bring our water, wine and my request not to add coriander in my vatapa. The food is good, but too expensive. 60 pounds per person you can go to a much better restaurant for the same price. Always good to try new places but Mocoto doesn’t worth it.

Went last night for the first time. We were four. The food was reasonably good, the drinks (I had Pequi Martini, which was great). The staff were friendly and helpful with tidbits about Brazil, even though I think the lot of them are students. The only downer was the noise, even though the music was lovely as it was the beginning of the Brazilian Carnival, but you could not hear yourself. It felt like you were in a disco, too loud, and no matter how many times we asked the staff to lower the volume, it spoilt what could have been a wonderful evening. I will think twice about going back.

Having read the reviews I expected the worst. But service was really great with staff who were enthusiastic and eager to explain dishes. The food was good too. In a party of four, all enjoyed their choices. Rare steak was perfectly cooked and the risotto had rave reviews. The puddings were fantasic especially the chocolate fondant. I wonder if the problems experienced by others were just first month jitters........
