I live around the corner from The Ark and have been meaning to go there for ages. It's always busy, even on weekdays.
I went last week and it definitely lived up to expectations. The wait was around an hour which was expected. The starters were amazing, especially the minced crab. The main courses were all very good too. The only bad thing was the mash potato had too much salt for my liking. Overall the food was excellent and the prices reflect that.
The decor is simple but nice and the atmosphere is noisy but bearable. I will definitely be going again.

A disappointing visit for a birthday lunch on Saturday. Soup was tepid and had to be returned, grilled fish was overcooked and served on stone cold plates. Although the service was friendly and obliging, we suspect that the main chef may not have been in the kitchen leaving underlings to cook less appealingly.

I visited on a Saturday night recently and was warned that the queue for a table for 2 would be at least an hour, which turned out to be the case, but you don't mind if this is made clear from the start. We ate 3 courses and the quality and quantity of each course was excellent. The place itself is very light and airy but not hugely atmospheric and quite noisy when so busy. However, as the service was friendly and efficient and most importantly, the food was excellent, we will definitely be back soon.

Visited the Ark this afternoon, was delicious!!
I had the crab with cheese crumble ontop my husband had the most yummy fresh prawn cocktail which was huge.
Scallops in garlic are to die for and if you have a little break at the end of your meal you might be able to squeeze in a lovely desert. Our 4 year old daughter had a starter size bowl of mussels and ate every last one. YES it is a bit expensive but you can taste the food is freshly cooked chips are the best and salads alway fresh and crunchy. Cannot wait to go again.

What a lovely restaurant!! Would go back a thousand times! Went there for lunch with my husband and we both had starters and main courses. Waitress was very friendly - told me that they get all their fish in fresh every morning from Billingsgate. What I loved about this restaurant is that for every main course you order, you can request how the fish is cooked - grilled, fried, battered, poached! Perfect for whatever mood you're in. Slightly pricey but worth it if you want a lovely meal out. Great restaurant for couples and a group of friends.

We decided to go to The Ark on Saturday evening and arrived about 9.30pm, we were shown to a table straight away and the resturant was quite busy, considering it is in a very quite area where there are no other resturants near by. The place is very clean and very very bright not the sort of place you would go for a romantic meal. I dont think you can pre book your table but its never been a problem as you can always have a drink at the bar. I decided to have cod and chips for my meal it was very fresh but a little pricey at 11.50. My partner went for scampi and chips at 9.00. I also decided to rey the baked crab for a starter, it was ok, a little over-powering because they sprikle it with baked cheese and it overpowers the flavour of the crab. This was 5.50 There were a few specials on the board and the menu is quite varied however this resturant is quite expensive for what we had. I would return again but not in a hurry.
